The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regular
session on the above date'. The meeting was called to order by Pres.
Geo.P.Wilson, the roll was called showing the full noard present. Coimnunid
cations.were read and referred to the proper order of business. The minutes
of the previous meeting were read and approved, Reports of heads of dejn rt®
mentor were read, accepted and ordered filed with the exception of the report
of the Advertising Manager which was held over for discussion.
Trustee 1ilkinson reported on the proposed change of Plumbers '
license and reccommended that the annual license for plumbing be changed
from $25,00 to x`100.00 On motion ofTPuat'ee Sloan.seconded by Trustee
Wilkinson and carried, the report of the committee was, accepted.
Trustee Sloan moved the adoption of the following:
ORDINANCE NO. 279

An ordinance of the city of Newport Beach, amending Section 42
of ordinance 110 Of said city, concerning the annual rate of license for
plumbing and house drainage within said city." Which motion was seconded
by Trustee Richter and passed to the second reading by the following vote.
Ayes: Trustees Geo:P..Wilson,.H.C.Sloan, Fred Young, Conrad
Richter and L.S.Wilkinson.
Noes: None.
Absent:Trustees,None.
OPENING OF BIDS.
ORDINANCE NO. 278.
An ordinance of the City of Newport Beach in the aid of safety
and navigation, Establishing the office of life Saving and Pilot Service
of the City of Newport Beach, and providing for the appointment of a
person to fill such office, came on for final consideration and upon call
pf the roll was passed by the following vote.
Ayes: Trustees Geo. P.Wilson, H.C.Sloan, Fred Young, Conrad
Richter and L.S.Wilkinson.
Noes: Trustees,None.
Absent! Trustees, None.
AWARD OF CONTRACT.
ORDINANCE NO. 277.
An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach establishing and
defining the Municipal Water System thereof , Provoding Rules and Regula.
tions for its operation, Creating the Office of Water Superintendent of
the Municipal Water System, Prov iding for the establishment and collect
tion of charges for Water, and providing for all penalties for all viola-
tions of this ordinance, came up for final reading and upon call of the
roll was passed by the following vote.
Ayes: Trustees Geo.P.Wilson, H.C.Sloan,•Fred Young, Conrad
Richter and L.S.Wilkinson.
Noes: Trustees, None.
Absent: Trustees, None.
ORDINANCE NO. 276
An Ordinance perscribing a license upon certain trades, occu.
pations and callings on in the city of Newport Beach repealing Ordinances '
and parts of Ordinances in conflict therewith, came on for final reading
and upon call of the roll was passed by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees,Geo.P.Wilson, H.C.Sloan, Fred Young, Conrad
Richter and L.S.Wilkinson.
Noes: Trustees, None.
Absent, Trustees,None.
This being the first Monday in June, and the Tax Collector having
delivered to the Board of Trustees, by filing the same with the Clerk a'
complete list of all persons and property owing taxes, and at the same
time returned the Assessment Roll. In the delinquent lis-Y so delivered
there.was'set :down in numerical order all matters and things contained
in the Assessment Book relating to delinquent persons and property.

The Board of Trustees having carefully compared said delinquent list
with the Assessment Roll and being sarisfied that it contained a full and
true statement of all taxex due and unpaid, the Tax Collector was duly
credited with all taxes charged against him on the Assessment Roll, the
amount of which was ..?$148 444.49 , and in turn the Board of Trustees
directed the Clerk to charge the ax Collector with the amount of taxes
due on the delinquent list, together with all penalties due thereon and
an additional sum of Fifty Cents,(.50), advertising fee, for each lot,
parcel or tract of land separately assessed, and each assessment of per-
sonal property so delinquent, the amount of which is $8,088.66
The Board of Trustees further directed the Clerk to forthwith
deliver to the Tax Collector said Deliquent List,
This being the first Monday in June, and the Tax Collector haftng;
delivered to the Board of Trustees, by filing the same with the Clerkp
a complete list of all persons and property owing assessments, and at the
same time returned the Assessment Roll. In the delinquent list so delivered
there was set down in mnmerical order all matters and things contained in
the Assessment Book relating to delinquent persons and property.
The Board of Trustees having carefully compared said delinquent list
with;zthe assessment roll and being satisfied that it contained a full and
true statement of all assessments due and unpaid, the Tax Collector was
duly credited will all assessments c7garged against him on the assessment
roll, the amount of which was $102,594.99 , and in turn the Board of
Trustees directed the Clerk to charge the Tax Collector with the amount
of taxes due on the delinquent list; together with all penalties due there-
on and an additional sum of Fifty Cents (.50) advertising fee, for each
lot,parcel or tract of land separately assessed, and each assessment of
personal property so delinquent, the amount of which is $9,465.22
The Board of

This being the time fixed for opening bids for certain work on
certain portions of COAST BOULEVARD, within theCity of Newport Beach,
as contemplated by Resolution of Intention NO. 331 of this Board,
the Board in open session publicly opened, examine and declared all seal-
ed bids received for said work to -wit:

Trustee Sloan presented and moved the adoption of RESOLUTION N0.336
entitled" A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport
Beach awarding the contract for certain work on certain portions of Coast
Boulevard within Laid City ", which motion was seconded by Trustee Young,
and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees,.Geo.F.wilson, H.C.Sloan, Fred Young, Conrad Richter
and L.S.Wilkinson.
Noes: Trustees, None,
Absent: Trustees, Nonw.

On motion of Trustee Richter, seconded by Trustee Sloan and
carried, the estimate of the Publicity Manager was allowed subject to
the approval of the Board in the matter of the Bathing Parade appropri-
ation of $250.00.
On motion of Trustee Sloan, seconded by Trustee Young and carried,
the Clerk was ordered to advertise for bids on a Garbage Truckm bids, to
be received up to 7.o'clock P.M.. Monday July 6, 1925.
The petition of certain property owners for the Opening and widen-
ing of certain Streets between 36th Street and 61st Street was referred '
to the City Planning Commission for approval or rejection,
Application of Ben Cope to construct the following Piers:
Pier in front of Lot 8, Tract #756 for R.N.Frick,
Pier in front of LOt 6, Tract #756 for Louis Cass' and Piers in front
of Lots 1 & 2 in Block ¢A26, East Side Division, for J.I.Lankersham,
having been laid over fortwo weeks and having the approval of the City
Engineer were approved subject to the will of the Board.
Several complaints having been received as to the service rendered
the City of Newport Beach by the Southern Calif. Edison co., the President
of the -Board appointed a committee of Trustees Sloan and Young to inves-
tigate the matter and report at the next meeting.
Transfer of Funds. .
City Treasurer Wallace submitted the following
transfer of funds.
The transfer temporarily of Gas System Interest and
Sinking Fund from
said Fund to General Fund in the amount of $21,250.00.
All of the following May Collections to be transferred to General
Fund.

Thereupon motion of Trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Sloan
and..carriedi'the Clerk was Ordered to complete the transfers as suggested.
On motion of Trustee Sloan, seconded by Trustee Wilkinson and
carried, the City Marshall was authorised to hire A.M.Aldrich as Motor
Policeman for the period between June 15th and Sept.15th.
On motion of TrusteesWilkinson, seconded by Trustee Sloan and

carried, the demands as approved by the finance committee were allowed
°and warrants ordered drawn.
There baing no further business, on motion of Trustee Sloan,seconded
by Trustee Young and carried, the meeting was adjourned SINE SIE.

Pursuant to a call thereof by the President of the Board of
Trustees and Notice delivered to each member of the Board at least three
hours before the time specified for the meeting, the Board of Trustees
met at the place and on the date mentioned at 7:30 o'clock P.M.
The meeting was called to order by President Geo.P.Wilson,
The Roll was called showing the full Board.
The call was read and the Board proceeded to consider the sub-
jects for which the meeting was called.
Trustee Wilkinson moved the final passage of ORDINANCE NO.279.
An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach Amending Section-42
of Ordinance No. 110 of said City, concerning the annual rate of ieense
for Plumbing and House Drainage within said City, which motion tva se-
conded by Trustee Young and upon call of the roll passed by the Following
vote.
Ayes: Trustees Geo.P.Wilson, H.C.Sloan, Fred Young, Conrad Richter
and L.S.Wilkinson.

Absent: Trustees, None.
On motion of Trustee Sloan, seconded by Trustee Wilkinson and
carried, Anton Deraga was appointfld to serve as head of the Life Saving
and Pilot Service of the City of ewport each at a salary of $25.00 per
month,said salary to be paid out of the Salary Fund, the duties of the
office to be those as set forth in Ordinance Noo 278; of the City of
Newport Beach.
On motion of Trustee Young, seconded by Trustee ' Wilkinson and
carried, the following water rates were adopted for the City of Newport
Beach, said rates to be immediately in full. force and effect.
Any connection up to one inch,Xw inch or smaller $20.00 per con-
nection. For a connection of one inch ----------- - - - - -- -25.00
For a connection of One and One Half inches - -- 35.00 - "
For a connection of Two inches---------- - - - - -- 75.00,
An additional not to exceed x$''10.00 per connection where in the
opinion of the plater Supt. a reducing valve is necessary. The above
prices and rates to prevail in all cases provided that the connection be
located within 100 feet of a water main.
On motion of Trustee Sloan,seconded by Trustee Richter and carried
the Stree Supt.was authorised to shale a road 12 ft in width on Marguerite
Ave from its intersection with the Coast Boulevard to Ocean Ave. Said
improvement to cost $300.00 for which payment is to be made Dec.111925.
