On motion of Trustee Sloan, seconded by Trustee Wilkinson and carried, the demands as signed by the Yinance Committee were allowed and warrants ordered drawn. There - being no further-business on motion of Trustee Sloan, seconded by Trustee Young and carried the meeting was adjounned to 7:30 O'clock P. %I.. August 10th, 1925. Signed President of the Board of Trustees City of Newport Beach,Calif, City Hall,, Newport Beach,Calif, August 10, 1925 The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regular session on the above date, The meeting was called to prder by the President Geo, P.Wilson. The roll was called showing the full board presentp with the exeeptiori of Trustee Richter who was absent on leave. The minutes of the previous meeting having been amended were approded. Report was made in the matter of the proposes( abandonment of certain property between Alvarado and "B" streets and it was stated that the matter had been presented to the P.E.Company and that the plan was acceptable to them with certain modifications. A petition signed by 45 residents in the vicinity of the float at the'end of Momtero Street was paesented praying the Board to leave the float at its present location. On motion of trusteeYoung, seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried, the Clerk was instructed to-write Mr McKee who presented a petition against the float'that the float be 18ft in its present location and that a police officer would be instructed to watch and keep down the noise at night. Second reading of Ordinance No; 281, ORDINANCE NO. 281, entitled as follows: An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach, a municipal corporation, incorporated under the laws of the State of Cali- fornia, by the Board of Trustees thereof, as the legislative branch of said City, ordering the submission of the proposition of-incurring a banded debt for the purposes set forth in Resolu- tion No.a337 of said City, to the qualified of Newport Beach, calling an election .to be reciting the objects and purposes for which proposed to be incurred, the estimated cost improvement, the amount of the principal of be incurred therefor, and the maximum rate voters of the City held for that purpose the indebtedness is of the proposed public the indebtedness to >f interest to be paid 276 on such indebtedness,and fixing the date on which such election will be held, the manner of holding such election, and the voting for or against incurring such indebtedness, and providing that in all particulars not recited in this ordinance such election shall be held as provided by law for holding municipal elections in the City of Newport Beach* was taken up for final consideration, the prdinance was read, the roll called, and Ordinance 140. 281 paased by the vote of the following two- ' thirds of all members of the Board of Trustees: AYES: Trustees Geo. P.Wilson, H C.Sloan, Fred W.Young, L.S.Wilkinson NOES: Trustees Nonw. ABSENT: Trustee Conrad Richter The ordinance was then signed, approved by the President of the Board of Trustees, and attested by the,.Clerk. The application of the Union Oil Company to construct a pier and dock house and to sink tanks near the Bulkhead for the purpose of dis- pensing petroleum therefrom, having laid 'over two weeks and having been approved by the City Engineer was allowed. providing that the design of the buildings is changed so that all sides of the building will be constructed with glass sides and ends with the exception of the frame thereof, and subject to the will of the Board. An application for a permit to construct a pier in front of Lot 12, Block 12, Section Three, Balboa Island for E.E.Elder was laid over for the usual time for the approval of the City Engineer. A communication was received from W.W.Brown of East Newport re- garding moorings and the chair ordered the Clerk to write to Mr Brown that the Board of Trustees would consider his complaint when he sub- mitted a letter that was worded in a coubteous and respectful manner. , Upon motion of Trustee Sloan seconded by Trustee Young the dia- gram of the assessment district for the construction of the Corona Del Mar Water System as contemplated by Resolution of Intention No.304 presented by the City Engineer be adopted and approved. The motion . carried by the following vote: AYES: Trustees Geo.P.Wilson, H.C.Sloan, Fred W.Young and L.B.Wilkinson NOES: Trustees None, ABSENT: Trustee Conrad Richter. On motion of Trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried Ordinance No. 280. AN.ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH REPEALING SECTION ONE OF ORDINANCE NO. 276 Trustee Wilkinson moued..thb::final adoption,. of ORDINANCE NO. 280, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH REPEALING SECTION ONE 03 ORDINANCE NO. 276.which motion was seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried upon the following roll call. AYES: Trustees Geo.P.Wilson, H.C.Sloan, Fred VI.Ypung, and L.S.Wilkinsdn NOES: Trustees None ABSENT: Trustees Conrad Richter. A communication was received from the City Treasurer stating,that he would be Borced to pay $100.00 per month for office rent use of the vault and such other furniture and fixtures as were used by him as City Treasurer, said rent beginning September 1st, 1925. There being no objection the communication was referred to the committee as a whole. On motion of trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried the estimate of City Advertising Mgr. Welch of ;289.93 for expenses during the month of August, 1925 was allowed,.and the expen- diture of $200.00 for a band on Labor Day was.allowed provided that the Band play on the Balboa Pier and Mr Welch was instructed to pbtain chairs for the band. 277 In the matter of the acceptance of a map of Tract # 772 the sub- dividers were instructed,to re- submit a map of the tract showing all streets with a minimun.width of 40 feet. - on motion of Trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried the demands as approved by the finance committee were allowed and warrants ordered drawn. There being no forther business on motion of Trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Young and carried, the meeting was adjourned to August ' 17th, 1925 at 7:30 O'clock P.M.
