President Board of Trustees City Hall, Newport Beach, November 9, 1925 The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Bet.ch, met in regular session on the above date at 7 :30 o'clock P. .:. The meeting was called to order by President George P. Si!il3on. The roll was c211ed, shooing the full Board present, with the exception of Trustee Sloan. The minutes of the previous meeting were read end aoprov:d. q� Trustee Richter reported for the committee inves+.i,�ating the , V can,.ery proposition, and stated that canneries had been visited by the committee and that those using the ne•:r process .-fere not objectionable lznd that the employment of Japanese was the only feature that might be objectidnal. :r. St.,nley Livingston was then called upon and st..tnd th=zt the local fishermen could furnish the cannery, and that Chore was no necessity to enroloy Japanese help. Trustee Yol.irig introduced and r,;ovod the adoption of the 295 The communication of A. R. Russell of Long Beach, California, requesting a live bait concession on the Balboa Pier was discussed and there being no objection was referred to the committee as a whole for y consideration.I Yr. Earnest Burris addressed the Board, stating that the crossing at Twenty -Sixth Street was dangerous, and that some kind of dander signal should be erected at that point. There being no objec- tion the matter was referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report. City ITarshal, J. A. Porter, addressed the Board retarding the nee: of new shades for the City Hall, and was thereupon instructed to have the representative of some firm make an estimate of what ':he improvement would cost. Doctor ':'hitstine apaeared before the Board and stated that he had not received courteous treatment at the hands of the Deputy Harbor Yaster, Captain Wn. E. Spofford. The matter was referred to the ' comr.itt-o as a whole for investigation. i Trustee Sloan being absent, Trustee Young rcl.s appointed on 4 the Finance Committee. AND ALLEYS WITHIN SAID CITY, which motion was seconded by Trustee Richter, and passed by the following vote. AYES -- Trustees Wilson, Young, Richter, Wilkinson. NOES -- Trustees none.
