foot strip along their right of ,ay from 32nd St.'.•,'est, reported that
he had it all lined up and the pacers would soon be sent east for the
signatures of the proper officers. On motion of Trustee ':•ilkinson
seconded by Trustee Modjeski and carried the committee was discharged
and thanked by the board for the good work done.

A letter from W. L. Blaich objecting to the assessment of P..rs. Fillers
property in Balboa East Side Addition was referred to the new tax col-
lector for report. '
The communication from Roy �v. TJcElrath in regard to the purchase of a
portion of Jot 1013 of First Addition to Newport P.:esa Tract was ordered
filed.
There being no further business on motion of Trustee Williamson seconded
by Trustee Young and carried the meeting was adjourned to 7:30 P.PS. on
Monday, April 26, 1926.

The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach
met in regular session at 7:30 o'clock r. M. on above date.
The meeting was called to order by the president, Con-
rad Richter. The roll was called showing full board present.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved
as read.
Communications were read and referred to the proper
order of business.
City Marshall Captain Adams reported favorably on '
the tango game of Fred J. +ardrop and on motion of Trustee Modjeski
seconded by Trustee Williamson and carried the application was accept-
ed and license to be issued.
ThiA being the time fixed for the opening of bids
for certain work on certain portions of Coast Boulevard and certain
other streets and avenues in Corona Del M ^r within the city of Newport
Beach as contemplated by Resolution of Intention No. 370 of this board.
The board in open session, publicly opened, examined and declared all
sealed bids received for said work, to -wit;

On motion of `trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee
' Williamson and carried the application of U. A. Foltz for work in
water department was referred to the water superintendent and fire
and water committee.
The application of ben Cope for permission to build
a pier in front of Lot`c•, Block 21, Balboa, East Side Addition for
Mrs. Brown was referreT-to the city engineer for the customary two
weeks.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee
Young and carried the clerk was instructed to communicate with the
neighboring cities in regard to the ordinance covering license of
motor busses before action on the communication of Norman Robotham
asking a reduction in his license.

The communication from K. I. Fulton and Company.of Corona
Del Mar asking that an imporvement district be made for planting trees,
flowers, etc., and also a communication from them asking that a system
of street numbers be worked out for Corona Del Mar, were referred to
the planning commibsion.
The communication from L. Ludlow Hight in regard to the
breaking down of the sea wall on the pennisula was filed.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Young
and carried the request of the Balboa Yacht and Swimming Club for per-
mission to build a bridge five feet wide and 70 ft. long to Colonis Isle
was referred to the city engineer. The permission to be with the express '
provision that it be constructed and maintained atothe expense of the ap-
plicant but to be wholly under the jurisdiction of the Board of Trustees.
On Motion of 'Trustee Young seconded by Trustee Modjeski
and carried the resignatiion of R. S. Summers as city treasurer was ac-
cepted. r'rank L. Rinehart was nominated for city treasurer and upon call
of the roll he was declared duly appointed to fill that office.
President Conrad Richter appointed the following standing
committee:
Finance Committee, 'Trustees Wilkinson and Williamson
Street Committee, Trustees Modjeski and Wilkinson
Police Committee, Trustees '�'oung and Modjeski
Fire, water, gas and light committee, Williamson and Young
Advertising committee, Trustee Williamson and Modjeski
On motion of 'Trustee Alkinson seconded by Trustee Young
and carried the demand of the State Compensation Insurance Fund for pre-
mium on Compensation Insurance for the balance of current year to July
1st, was allowed.
Trustee Harry Williamson introduced a resolution entitled
as follows:
A resolution of the Board of Trustees of the city of New-
port Beach delcaring its intention to order a portion of a certain street I
in said city vacated, abandoned and closed.
The resolution was read, considered, designated Resolution
No. 375, and on call of the roll passed by the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees L. S. Wilkinson, Felix B. Modjeski, Fred 'W. Young, Harry
H. Williamson, Conrad Richter.
Noes, Trustee None
Absent, Trustees, None
Ordinance No. 298 entitled as follows:
An ordinance of the city of Newport Beach fixing the salary of city
marshall thereof, and repealing that portion of any ordinance in con-
flict therewith, was taken up for final consideration the roll was call-
ed and the ordinance passed by the following vote:
Trustees, Ayes, Wilkinson, Modjeski, Young, Williamson, Richter
Noes, Trustees none
Absent, Trustees, none
A letter from James G. Stafford of Oakland, California in
regard to equalizing our tax assessment was taken up and discussed and on
motion of jrustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Williamson and carried the.
clerk was instructed to make an appointment with Mr. Stafford to meet ,
with the board; without expense to the city as soon as possible, also
to write to his reference The league of California Municipalities.
On motion of 'trustee Williamson seconded'by Trustee Young
and upon call of the roll the deed of Florence Schoeffel Henry and Charles
C. Henry dated April, 21, 1926 conveying real property therein described
to the city of Newport Beach was accepted.
On motion of Trustee Modjeski seconded by Trustee will=
iamson and upon call of the roll the deed of Robert N. Frick and Maud "T.
Frick, his wife, dated March 18, 1926'to the city of Newport Beach all
the real property therein described was accepted on behalf of the city.

On motion of 'Truster Wilkinson seconded by TrYtstee
Young and upon call of the roll duly carried, the deed of the Masonic
Homes of Calif., a corporation, darted April 20, 1926 to the city of
Newport Beach and t1e right of way therein, described be and is hereby
accepted on behalf of the city of Newport Beach.
The City Engineer reported that J. Paul Benson was
the lowest bidder for the work to be done on certain portions.of
boast Boulevard and certain other streets and avenues in Corona Del
Mar within said city and there upon Trustee Young presented Resolution
No. 376 entitled:
A resolution of the board of Trustees of the city of
Newport Beach awarding the contract for certain work on certain por-
t tions of Coast Blvd. and certain other streets and avenues in Corona
Del Mar within said city, and on his motion duly seconded, said Re-
solution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees, Wilkinson, Modjeski, Young, Wilkinson, Richter
Noes, Trustees none
Absent, 'trustees, none
Trustee Modjeski introduced a resolution entitled as

A resolution of the Board of 'Trustees of the city cf
Newport Beach declaring vacant for public street purposes a certain
portion of Channel Road within said city. The resolution was read,
considered, designated Resolution No. 377 and on call of the roll
passed by the following vote:

Trustee Young introduced a resolution entitled as
follows:
A resolution of the board of Trustees of the city of
Newport Beach, declaring their intention to vacate, close -up and
abandon for public street purposes certain portions of Pacific Drive
within said city. The resolution was read, considered, designated
Resolution No. 378 and on call of the roll passed by the following
vote:
Ayes, Trustees, a:'ilkinson, Modjeski, Young, Williamson, Richter
Noes, Trustees,_ none
Absent, Trustees, none
On motion of Trustee Voilliamson seconded by Trustee
Young and upon call of the roll, R. S. Briggs was to be employed
as city accountant and perform other duties as outlined by him in
his report effedtive today at a salary of $250.00 per month for one
month only or until Ordinance No. 298 becomes operative.
The office of health officer being vacant through
failure of the appointee to qualifty. Captain David L. Adams was
nominated and upon roll call being takne he was declared duly ap-
pointed as health officer of the city of Newport Beach.
President Richter presented a card from C. E. Morlan
Travelling Passenger Agent of P. E. Railway, who desired permission to lia.
a picnic of r. E. Employees east of Dalboa tier and the clerk was
instructed to write a letter giving the permission and inviting them
to come.
Norman Robathom bought up the matter of having some
sort of a traffic signal at the corner of Coast Highway and Newport
Bouelvard., and on motion of Trustee Williamson seconded by Trustee
' Modjeski and carried Mr. Robathom was appointed a committee of one
to take the matter up with the State Highway Commission, Auto Club
of %uthern'Calif and the Board of Supervisors.
There being no further business on motion of Trustee
Young seconded by Trustee Modjeski and carried the meeting was adjourn -
ed, sine die. -�

met in regular session at 7 :30 P. M. on above date`.'
The roll was called showing full board present.
The minutes of previous meeting were read, corrected
and approved.
The reports of heads of departments were read,and
by motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Modjeski and carried
they were accepted and filed.
The communications were read and upon motion of
Trustee Young,seconded by Trustee Wilkinson and carried,the request
of the Balboa Chamber of Commerce that the City take over the play-
ground equipment at Balboa was accepted and the Street Superintendent
was instructed to receipt to them for it and see.that it was kept in
shape. The Clerk to write and thank them for looking after it so far.

ties on J.G.Stafford was filed.
The communication from A.W.Engel asking the return
of the water meter which he stated the water department had taken that
belonged to him, and on motion of Trustee Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee
Young and carried the Water Superintendent was instructed to return
the meter if it belonged to Mr Engel.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee
Williamson and carried the communication from Ben Cope in regard to
band election to repair the jetty was filed, to await the result of
Harbor Band election, June 10th.
The application of Ben Cope to build a pier for
C.M.Merrill in front of Lot 4, Block 2, Section 4, Balboa Island, was
referred to the City Engineer for the customary two weeks.
The matter of allowing the Pool and Billiand Halls
to keep open until 1 O'clock A. M. was brought up and Fred W.Young
introduced an ordinance amending Section Two 02)of Ordinance N0.85 of
the City of Newport Beach_.establishing the hours of opening and aloe -
ing_. Pool and Billiard Rooms. The Ordinance was ordered, filed,read,
considered,designated Ordinance No. 299 and rederred to the City
Attorney.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee
Modjeski and carried, Fire Chief Jackson was authorized to have the
chemical tank on the fire truck repaired if not to exceed twenty
dollars. On motion of Trustee Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee Young and
carried the *,request for raise of Salary of the Fire Chief was referr-
ed to the committee of the whole to ascertain what additional service
would be gained. Fire Chief Jackson stated that he needed two Siamese
connections costing twenty dollars eash and one dozen hose straps cost-
ing one dollar, and on motion of Trustee Modjeski,secomded by Trustee
Young and carried, they were allowed.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee
Wilkinson and carried, the application of A.E.Bergman for a license
to run an ice -cream and soft drink stand on Lot Block 222,See.A
