On motion of Trustee Harry H. ^,illiamson seconded by Trustee Felix B.
L,:odjes:ca and carried, the conyunication from 0. Harold Hopkins in regard to rater
rates, Was referred to the Hater Superintendent for reply informing hint of the
Ordinance on this point.
:5r. J. P. Greeley res present and on behalf of the 7ewport Bay - Investment
Co. made the City an offer of a 30 day option on all the ocean frontage owned by
them in Balboa Tract, approximating 500 feet, at one -half the regular price or
+$$5.00 per front foot. T. L. Jordan also thought he could ,.et options from other
property owners in that Tract on the some basis.
The matter was discussed and on motion of Trustee L. S. ',ilkinson seconded
b, Trustee Felix B. L.odjeska and carried, the City was to procure from the re.-.port
Bay Investment Co. and others, an option to purchase all of the land owned Ly then
lying- southerly of Surf Avenue at a cost of $5.00 per front foot, the option to
be exercised rithin 30 days, any to be paid for on terms to be agreed upon at the
time of purchase. There is hereby L nronrieted out of the treasury of the City
of Newport Beach the sum of $1.00 for each person frog;r:hon: cm option is obtained.

City Attorney Clyde Bishop brought up the matter of a dam across the ale

Attorney was instructed to notify the United States Engineers Office t_^.at the City

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met, in regular
session at 7:30 o'clock P. L;. on above date. The meeting was called to order by
President Conrad Richter.
The roll was called showing all members present except Trustee Harry H.
Williamson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The reports of the heads of the departments were read and on motion of
Trustee Felix B. I�odjeska seconded by Trustee Fred W. Young and carried, the
reports were accepted and filed.
As Trustee Harry H. Williamson was not present President Richter
appointed Trustee Fred W. Young on the Finance Committee for the evening.
The communications were read and acted on as follor:s:
The request from Ray C. Bell, Roy Long, Hugh Mc Eillan and Frank Suttora
for permission to erect a temporary structure on the ocean front immediately
westerly of the public comfort station, until the new building on the ground where
their present business is located is completed, was discussed, and on motion of
Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Felix B. Modjeska and carried, the
request was granted with the understanding that the structure be removed as soon
as the new building is completed, and the City Attorney was instructed to draw up
a lease on same.
The comirunication frog. The Whiting Company in regard to interrupting their
' sewer line on Corona Del Liar during paving proceedings, was referred to the City
Engineer.
The request of Papola D. Pogue and Samuel Tustin to abandon 25 feet of
Pacific Drive between larkspur and L:arguerite Avenues on Corona del Liar was
discussed, end on motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Felix B.
Ilodjeska and carried, the petitioners request was granted. and. the necessary steps
taken to. abandon the 25 foot strip between the points named, the matter of. other
work agreed to by them to be taken up with a sufficient number. of the other property
owners to assure its beine done.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Fred W. Young
and carried, the request of Water Superintendent Cundiff for transfer of $1,500.00
from budget fund No. 492 -8 to fund No. 4911 -A was granted.
