City Hall, Newport Beach, August 12, 1931
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in regular
adjourned session at 12:00 o'clock M on above date. The meeting was
called to order by Mayor Johnson.
The roll was called showing all members present except Council-
man Claire.
The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was ommitted.
There being no reports or communications the Mayor passed to
NEW BUSINESS.
City Engineer Patterson presented a certified copy of an
' order for immediate possession and use granted by the Superior Court
of the State of California in and for Orange County on August 12, 1931;
and upon motion duly made and carried the Order was filed.
IN THE.MATTER OF THE IMPROVEMENT OF SEASHORE DRIVE
AND CERTAIN OTHER STREETS.
Pursuant to instructions heretofore given by the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach, California, the City Engineer
presented Plat No. 370 showing the exterior boundary of the assessment
district for the proposed improvement of Seashore Drive and certain other
streets, and certain property for which an order of immediate possession
and use has been granted by the Superior Court of the State of Calif-
ornia, in and for the County of Orange, in said City of Newport Beach:
also Plan No. 369 consisting of 15 sheets numbered 1 to 15 inclusive
and Standard Plans No. 1016, 1025 and 1027 together with the specifica-
tions for the said improvement, and recommended that the said Plat No.
370 of the assessment district.and the said Plan No. 369 consisting of
15 sheets numbered 1 to 15 inclusive, and Standard Plans N0.1016, 1025
and 1027 together with the specifications, be approved.
WHEREUPON, Councilman Ellsworth moved that the said Plat No.
370 of the assessment district and the said Plan No. 369 consisting of
15 sheets numbered 1 to 15 inclusive, and Standard Plans No. 1016, 1025
and 1027 together with the specifications be. adopted. Which motion was
' duly seconded by Councilman Garfield,. and upon roll call was carried
by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES, Councilrpen Hilmar, Ellsworth, Garfield, Johnson.
NOES, Councilmen None.
ABSENT, Councilman Claire.
Councilman Ellsworth offered and moved the adoption of
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 702, being Resolution of Intention in
the matter of improvement of Seashore Drive and certain other streets
and certain property for which an order of immediate possession and
use has been granted by the Superior Court of the State of California
in and for the County of Orange, in the City of Newport Beach, which
motion was duly seconded by Councilman Garfield and upon roll call the
-said Resolution was adopted by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES, Councilmen Hilmar, Ellsworth, Garfield, Johnson.
NOES, Councilmen None.
ABSENT, Councilman Claire.
On motion of Councilman Hilmer seconded by Councilman Gar-
field and carried, the demands for wages of two employees temporarily
employed in the street department, were allowed and warrants to be
drawn for same.
A Quitclaim deed to S. Beck covering Lot 5, Block 56, Ocean
Front Tract, which he had redeemed was considered, and on motion of
' Councilman Hilmar seconded by Councilman Garfield and carried, the
Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute the deed on behalf of
the City of Newport Beach.
Councilman Garfield asked to have another member appointed
on the Water and Sewer Committee to take the place of Councilman Hilmer
resigned, and Mayor Johnson appointed Councilman Ellsworth on the
Committee. On motion of Councilman Garfield seconded by Councilman
Hilmer and carried, the appointment was approved.
There being no further business on motion of Councilman Hil-
mer seconded by Councilman Garfield and carried, the m et in, adjourned
to 7:30 o'clock P.M. on Monday, August 24, 1931
