SPECIAL MEETING
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in the
Council Chambers of the City of Newport Beach at 10:00 a. m. on above
date in a special session called by Mayor Hilmer for the purpose of
taking steps toward securing funds from the County of Orange for the
payment of expenditures incurred in improving San Bernardino Avenue
' and other streets and alleys in the City of Newport Beach.
The roll was called showing the full Council present.
The call of the special meeting, duly signed by all members
of the Council was read and on motion of Councilman Garfield, seconded
by Councilman Claire and carried, the notice was ordered filed.
City Engineer Patterson presented a detailed estimate of
labor, material and costs for the improvement of 15th Street North of
Central Avenue; Alley between 14th and 15th Streets; Alley parallel
to Ocean Avenue through Blocks 23 to 30 inclusive; Alley parallel to
Ocean Avenue between 19th and 20th Streets through Block 19, Newport
Beach Tract; Alley parallel to Ocean Avenue between 8th and 9th Streets
through Block 7, East Newport; and Alley parallel to Central Avenue
between 8th and 9th Streets through Tract 884, and on motion of
Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Garfield and carried, the
estimates were approved and the Mayor authorized to sign same, whereupon
Resolution No. 829 was introduced by Councilman Claire directing and
authorizing the City Engineer to present to the Board of Supervisors
of Orange County a request for funds to cover said expenditures from
the Gasoline Fund Tax of the County of Orange, the Resolution being
adopted by the following roll call vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen Gordon, Claire, Ellsworth, Garfield, Hilmer.
NOES: Councilmen None.
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
City Engineer Patterson presented a detailed estimate of
' labor, material and costs of repairing Boardwalk and grading of Surf
Avenue; repairing Boardwalk and grading Ocean Avenue; grading San
Bernardino Avenue; grading Riverside Avenue and repairing shoulders
of Santa Ana Avenue, and on motion of Councilman Ellsworth, seconded
by Councilman Garfield and carried, the estimate was approved and the
Mayor authorized to sign the same, whereupon Resolution No. 830 was
introduced by Councilman Claire directing and authorizing the City
Engineer to present to the Board of Supervisors of Orange County a
request for funds to cover said expenditures from the Gasoline Tax
Fund of the County of Orange, the Resolution was adopted by the
following roll call vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen Gordon, Claire, Ellsworth, Garfield, Hilmer,
NOES: Councilmen None.
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
The business for which the Special Meeting was called having
been disposed of, a motion to adjourn Sine Die was made by Councilman
Claire, seconded by Councilman Garfield and carried.
