ABSENT: Councilmen None, ADJOURNMENT There being no further businessto come before the Council, it was moved by Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and carried, that an adjournment be taken to 7:30 o'clock Po M. konday, January 13, 1935, January 131 1936• 187 The City Council of the city of Newport Beach met in regular adjourned session in the City Council Chamber of the city of Newport Beach at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date with Mayor Hilmer presiding. The roll was called shoving the full Council present. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES None REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES None COMMUNICATIONS The application of J. A. Harvey for a license to operate a wholesale fish market at 2502 Lafayette Street, having been approved by the Health Officer, was on motion of Councilman Ellsworth, seconded by Councilman Garfield, and carried, allowed. The application of T. R. Dittmar for a hermit to build a commercial pier fronting on Lots 4, 5 and 6, Block 425, Lancaster Addition, was on motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Gordon and carried, referred to the City Engineer for approval, UNFINISHED BUSINESS Ordinance No. 441 came up for final passage, being an ordinance amending Ordinance 435 relating to certain amusement games; providing for licensing thereof and prescribing penalties for infraction of any lams in connection therewith. Upon motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Gordon, the Ordinance was adopted. by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: Councilmen Gordon, Claire, Ellsworth, Garfield, Hilmer. NOES: Councilmen None. ABSENT: Councilmen None. U06 The application of Frank Horvath for a, -permit to construct a pier fronting on Lot 9, Block 425, Lancasterys Addition, having been approved by the City Engineer, was on motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Gordon and carried, allowed. NEW BUSINESS On motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Gordon and carried, the services of A. S. Monroe were retained in connection with the proceedings of the n_roposed,sewer system on a basis of one percent of the cost of the project if carried to conclusion; otherwise on a per diem basis of twenty -five dollars, plus car mileage. -Resolution No. 935, being a. Resolution pertaining to a certain agreement between the City of Newport Beach and the Depart- ment of Public Works of the State of California., wherein the Depart ment shall expend or cause to be expended within the cities of this State from the State Highway Fund an amount equal to the net revenue derived from the one - fourth cent per gallon of tax of motor vehicle fuel upon streets of major importance other than State Highways. City Engineer Patterson outlined the work and the streets upon which said work is proposed to be done from the Gas Tax allocation. The adoption of the Resolution and authorization for the Mayor and City Clerk to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City of Newport.Beach, was moved by Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Gordon and passed by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: Councilmen Gordon, Claire, Ellsworth, Garfield, Hilmer, NOES: Councilmen None. ABSENT: Councilmen None, City Engineer Patterson presented a program of further projects proposed to be done under the WPA, together with estimates of cost of same, said proposed projects consisting of redecking the Newport -pier; widening of Marine Avenue on Balboa Island; replacing of damaged. water line on Monrovia Avenue. On motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Ellsworth end carried, the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign on behalf of the City of Newport Beach, the necessary applications for the work on the Newport pier and. the Monrovia Street water line. In connection with the work contemplated under the WPA program, Councilman Ellsworth brought up the matter of extending the Balboa pier for the distance necessary to provide a. sufficient depth of water, no action being taken until a survey of the situation has been made by the City Engineer. ADJOURNMENT_ There being no further business to come before the Council, it was moved by Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and carried, that an adjournment be taken Sine Die.
