Newport Beach, February 8, 1937.
The City Council of the.Oity of Newport Beach met in adjourned
regular session in the City Council Chambers at the City Hall in the
City of Newport Beach at 7 :30 o'clock P. M. on above date with Mayor
Williamson presiding.
The roll was called and the following Councilmen answered
present: Gordon, Claire, Whitson, Garfield, Williamson. Absent,
Councilmen, None.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES None.
COMMUNICATIONS
The letter of Robert L. Reed, Commodore of the Los Angeles
Speedboat Association, reo_uesting the.dates of Aoril 4th, May 2nd and
October 3rd for holding races in Newport Harbor, was read and after
some discussion it was moved by Councilman Garfield, seconded by Council-
man Whitson and carried, that the dates be allowed and the races to be
held between the hours of 9 o'clock A.M. and 4 o'clock P.M. on the afore-
said days.
The application of R. G. Blake for a license to operate a
museum and other amusements at Heliotrope and. Fourth Avenues, Corona
del Mar, was on motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman
Gordon and carried, referred to the Planning Commission for report.
Letters of Mrs. Millie M. Crosier and the Ebell Club of
Newport Beach pertaining to the appointment of Library Board members,
were read, and,on motion of Councilman Olaire, seconded by Councilman
Garfield and carried, the letters were ordered.filed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS None.
' NEW BUSINESS
Mayor Williamson appointed Harry Welch and E. B. Whitson to
represent the -City of Newport Beach as a committee in conjunction with
Dr. Albert Soiland and Capt. W. J. Brown of the Newport Harbor Yacht
Club which is to act as a clearing house for yachts in the Bay during
the Regatta. On motion of Councilman Gordon, seconded by Councilman
Garfield and carried, the appointments were approved.
It was moved by Councilman Whitson, seconded by Councilman
Claire and carried, that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for
bids for the drilling of a water well on the 93 acres of City owned
land and in accordance with the plans and specifications on file in
the office of the City Clerk.

On motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Garfield
and carried, an adjournment was taken to 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, February
23, 1937•
