The undersigned, Councilmen of the City of Newport Beach, consent
to the holding of a special meeting of the City Council at the
Council Chambers of the City Council in the City Hall in the City
of Newport Beach, on Thursday, the 21st day of May, 1942, at the
hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. for the purpose of considering and
acting upon the question of whether or not a bid should be made
to the Navy Department, United States Coast Guard, 11th Naval
District, for the granting of a lease to the United States of
America, said lease to commence as of the date of occupancy of
the premises hereinafter described, and to continue to and
including the 30th day of June, 1943, with option of renewal
from year to year, not exceeding however the 30th day of June,
1947, which option of renewal is to be exercised in writing by
the United States Government at least thirty (30) days prior
to expiration of the lease or any renewal thereof, said property
to be used by the United States Coast Guard as a location for a
station for patrol boats of the United States Coast Guard in
Newport Bay, at a rental of $600.00 per annum, payable in
monthly installments of $50.00.
The premises to be leased are described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at a point in the southerly line of'California State
Highway ORA -60 -B, which point is six (6) feet easterly from
State Highway Station B {-12.59; running thence S 39° West
190 feet, more or less, to an intersection with U. S. Bulkhead
line between Station No. 129 and Station No. 130; thence
South 69° East along said bulkhead line 150 feet; thence North
39 East, 100 feet; thence s 69 East 44 f6et; thence North
39' East, 138 feet, more or less, to an interesection with the
Southerly line of said State Highway; thence westerly along
the southerly line of said State Highway'206 feet, more or less,
to the point of beginning.

Said invitation or bid to be presented to the Navy Department, United
States Coast Guard, was duly considered and after a lengthy discussion, Council-
man Gordon moved the adoption of a resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign said
bid or invitation in quadruplicate on behalf of the City of Newport Beach. Said
resolution was given No. 2623 and upon roll call, passed by the following vote:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Gordon, Allen, Isbell, Reed, Hall.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None.
Mayor Hall then declared that Resolution
adopted by the City Council of the City of Newport
business coming before said City Council, on motion
by Councilman Reed, said meeting was adjourned sine

MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS
OF THE CITY COUNCIL ;OF SAID CITY ON THE 21st DAY OF
MAY, 1942, AT THE HOUR OF 6:30 O'CLOCK P. M.

It appearing that Frank L. Rinehart, City Clerk, was absent, on motion
of Councilman Isbell, seconded by Councilman Gordon, Councilman Allen was appointed
to act as Clerk pro tem. On roll call the following Councilmen answered present:
Gordon, Allen, Isbell, Reed and Mayor Hall, Absent, none.
The Mayor then stated the purpose of the meeting and presented a Consent
signed by all the Councilmen for the holding of said meeting at said time and place,

which consent was ordered filed by Mayor Hall, and is in words and ^figures follow-
ing, to -wit:
