HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/14/1944 - Regular MeetingRoll Call Insmance of Bonds in c ®nn. with construction of eanitairy 90wers Newport Beach, August 14, 1944 The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in adjourned regular session in the City Council Chambers at the City Hall at the hour of 4:00 o'clock P.M. on above date with Mayor Hall presiding. The roll was called, the following Councilman answering present: Allen, Isbell, Reed, Hall. Absent, Councilman: Stanley. The Mayor asked if any of the Councilmen or anyone in the audience wished the Minutes, or any part thereof, of the previous meeting, read, no one responded and the reading of the minutes was dispensed with. On motion of Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilmen Isbell and carried, the regular order of business was dispensed with in order to take up the matter relating to the issuance of bonds in connection with the construction of sanitary sewers. The Clerk advised the City Council that this was the time and place fixed pursuant "to statute and notice given for the hearing to show cause why bonds should not be issued upon the unpaid assessments for the construction of sanitary sewers in Central Avenue and other streets and alleys, as per Resolution of Intention, No. 2951. The Clerk also informed the said City Council that affidavits,f the posting and publication of the Notice of Filing List of Unpaid Assessments.were on file in his office, and that no objections had been filed in his office prior to the time set for the hearing. The Mayor then asked if there were any interested persons present desiring to be heard or who wished to pay any unpaid assessments. No one responded. Councilman Allen then offered and moved the adoption of Resolution No. 3069, determining the aggregate of unpaid assessments, fixing the denomi- nation of the bonds and directing their issuance, which motion was seconded by Councilman Isbell, and carried by the following vote, to -wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Allen, Isbell, Reed, Hall NOES, COUNCILMEN: None. ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: Stanley On motion of Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Reed and carried, the regular order of business was resumed. REPORTS OP STANDING COMMITTEES None. REPORTS OP SPECIAL COMMITTEES None. T.S.Black (N Jack The application-of Frank S. Black and Jack B. Hamilton for a license to B.Hamilton app11= operate a wholesale fish storage at 1305 Coast Boulevard, approved by the County cation for license Health Officer, as to sanitation, was presented, but due to location being-in a wholesale fish restricted zone for the handling of fish wholesale and on advice of the City storage--denied Attorney, it was moved by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Reed and carried, that the application be denied. A former motion by Councilman Allen to lay the application on•the table, died for lack of a second. The Council was addressed by the applicant on the question. Mra.Mildred B. The claim of Mrs. Mildred B. Thorne for medical - services for her.son Thorne claim for Robert, alleged to have been injured on the steps of the live bait house on medical services the Balboa pier, due it was claimed, to no railing on the steps, was on motion of Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Reed and carried, referred to the City °s insurance carrier. NOES, COUNCILMEN: None. ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: Stanley. The motion of Councilman Isbell, seconded by Councilman Allen authorizing the advertising for bids in connection with the outfall sewer, was rescinded on motion of Councilman Isbell, seconded by Councilman Reed and carried. 0 E UNFINISHED BUSINESS Mrs. Elizabeth Mrs. Elizabeth Wyatt appeared before the Council inquiring if any Wyatt inquiry rs: decision had been reached regarding the tidelands bordering.on certain property tidelands owned by her in Block 22, Balboa Eastside Addition, but was advised that no conclusion had been arrived at, Resolutions No. 3070 to 3074 inclusive, were presented, being resolu- ROa.
