Way Back Then.....
An issue that we no longer worry about.
The Newport zoning code included a section that prohibited small summer
cottages from building close to the rear alley... leaving large unimproved
front yards.
And sometimes they were without any off street parking.
That provision was still in use when we moved to CdM in 1963.
Way back when....
1 1/z x the buildable meant a single story home with an apartment above the garage
NOW...... Covered Decks add to the excessive BULK of the buildings
