The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in
regular session in the City Council Chambers at the City Hall
at the hour of 4 o'clock p.m. on the above date.
The roll was called, the following 8ounciimen
answering present: Robertson, Greeley, Drake, Isbell.
In the absence of Mayor Blue., It was moved by
Councilman Greeley, seconded by Councilman Drake and
carried, that Councilman Isbell be appointed Mayor pro tem.
AYES, COUNCILMEN. Robertson, Greeley, Drake
and Isbell.
NOES; COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: Mayor Blue.
Mayor Isbell asked If any of the Councilmen or
anyone in the audience wished the minutes of the previous
meeting, or any part thereof, read; no one responded and
the reading of the minutes was'dispensed with.
REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
The recommendation of the Traffic Committee, consist-
ing of Street Superintendent L. W. Covert, City Engineer Webb and
Chief of Police Hodgkinson, that certain streets on Balboa Island
be designated as One -Way streets; thus'entailing the necessity of
installing approximately 120 One -Way Street Signs at a cost of
$3.82 per sign, or a total of approximately $460.00 was under
motion of Councilman Drake, seconded by Councilman Greeley, adopted
and carried unanimously.

COMMUNICATIONS:
The letter from City Administrator Sailors requesting
authority to employ the services of-some competent attorney to
codify all existing Ordinances or the City of Newport Beach, and
upon completion that they be printed in book form was read.
Councilman Robertson suggested that the City Adminis-
trator ascertain the cost of such services from Louis Burke.
Councilman Robertson moved that the City Administrator
oe authorized to ascertain if the work need be done, and, if
necessary, that the City Administrator employ the services of any
competent attorney to codify all existing Ordinances of the City
of Newport Beach, and upon completion they be printed in book
form, seconded by Councilman Greeley and carried by the following
vote to -wit:

Isbell.

Upon the reading of a letter from Walter M. Hart, Master
of the M.V., "Pioneer" requesting permission to moor in the Western
side of the so designated Turning Basin, with the stern of the
boat moored to the land and the bow of the boat to be secured by
the boat's anchors at 90 degrees from the shore, Councilman
Robertson stated that the Harbor Committee approved of this request
and moved that any boat be permitted such temporary mooring with
the approval of the Harbor Committee, seconded by Councilman
Greeley and carried.

carried, that as a matter of policy the Building Department should
