The Monthly Report of Receipts and Disbursements was presented
and ordered filed on motion of Councilman Blue, seconded by Councilman
Greeley and carried.
HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS
City Engineer, J. B. ?7ebb, presented a reoort-on the petition
to construct a sidewalk from 30th Street to 36th Street, which had been
referred to him on August 29th. He stated_ that thirty -six of the forty -
eight lots comprising the whole assessment fistrict.were represented on
the petition. On motion of Councilman Isbell, seconded- by Councilman
Blue and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare and. submit
a report in accordance with the Special Assessment Investigation, Limita-
tion and. Majorit.x Protest Act of 1931.

The City Engineer 1presentea a report pursuant to the Councils
instructions of August S, 1849 concerning the improvement of alleys bet"'een
8th Street and 19th Street. He stated that 85 lots, or appro °imately 20/'0,
of the 417 lots in the proposed district rrere represented in the petition.
On motion of Councilman Robertson, second.ea by Councilman Greeley and. carried.,
action *,,as deferred for two weeks to permit the submission of additional
signatures.
SPECIAL CCI'i,BITTELS
The acquisition by lease - purchase of a 750 Callon pumping engine
with a 300 gallon water tank from the 1'iacli- International Motor True Corp.
for the sum. of ,vl5,420.00 was recommended by the special committee comprising
of Councilmen Robertson and. Blue and Fire Chief Crocker. On motion of
Councilman Robertson the City Manager was authorized to so acquire the
equipment in three payments provided that the payments are made in accord-
ance with statutes. The motion was seconded bv Councilman Greeley and
carried by the following vote, to-wit:

The Parks and Recreation Committee presented a comprehensive Report of Parks &
' report outlining; proposed steps for the develoiDment and, improvement of Rec;:�ss.'i:ion Cora. . -)ut
the City °s park and recreation facilities. On motion of Councilman Isbell, on enda for fvrthcr
seconded by Councilman Blue ane_ carried,-read-in.- of the report was waived,
and- it was ordered placed on the agenda for further study by the Council.
COMMUNICATION
Newport-Beach Firema.n's Club requested. financial assistance in
sending a. e- elegate to the California. State Convention at Big Bear September
23rd to 26th. On motion of Councilman Blue, seconded b,r Councilman Greeley
and carried, the request was -referred. to the City Manager with a, report bac_r
from the Fire Chief.
