The adjourned regular meeting of the City Council, of the
Adjourned City of Neup ort Beach was called to order in the City Council Chambers
Regular at the hour of 10:00 a.m. No councilmen being present, the meeting
Meeting was adjourned until September 17th, 1952 at the hour of 11:00 a.m.

Adjourned The adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the
Regular City of Newport Beach was called to order in the City Council Chanb ers
Meeting at the hour of 11:00 a.m. The roll was called, Councilmen Miller,
Finch, and Smith responding; Councilman Isbell and ouncilman Horvath
being absent.
Reading of On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Finch •
minutes waived and carried, the reading of the minutes of the previous meetings was
waived.
Holman, lie. The application of Charlotte L. holman and John W. Holman for
poultry a license to operate a poultry and egg business at 704 Coast Boulevard,
GRANTED Corona del Mar, subject to the stipulation that no live poultry be kept
on the premises, was again presented,,and on motion of Councilman
Finch, seconded by C ouncilman Miller and carried, the license was
granted.
Gallacher a- The City Engineer recommended that the contract for construction
warded. bid on of a sanitary sewer in Block 1 of Tract 919, Newport Beach, be awarded '
019 to the low bidder, J. I. Gallacher, on his bid of $2,632.25 with the
stipulation that the unpaid assessment on one of the nineteen lots in-
volved, be kept on record in the Water Department of the City as a lien
on the property. On motion of Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilman
Miller, the contract was awarded subject to the stipulation as recommended
and the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute the contract
by the following roll call vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Miller, Finch, and Smith.
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: Isbell
On motion of Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilman Miller
Adjournment and carried, the meeting was adjourned, sine die.

A letter from Thomas F. Roche, 3709 Lake Avenue, Newport each,

letter re:
pointing out hazard existing in the vicinity of 36th Street and 39t
hazards at 36th &
Street at Lake Avenue, River Street, and the Marcus Street end of the
38th St.
Newport Island bridge, was read. On motion of Councilman Miller,

and report.
Horvath Resig-
The resignation of Francis J. Horvath as City Councilman,

effective September 10th, 1952, was presented. On motion ofCouncilman
Miller, seconded by Councilman Finch, the resignation was accepted and
the City Clerk instructed to write Councilman orvath a letter express-
ing the appreciation of his fellow councilmen for his work while in
office. The motion was carried by the following roll call vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Miller, Finch, and Smith
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
