Lamb for a license to sell vacuum cleaners house to house was referred to the Police Department on motion of Councilman Finch, seconded by Coun- cilman Bennett and carried. The application of Joseph Tamburr for a license to operate a coffee shop at 307 Main Street, Balboa, was granted on motion of Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman Isbell and carried. The application of the American Mission Army for an exempt license to solicit funds and distribute literature was referred to the City Attorney on motion of Councilman Isbell, seconded by Councilman Bennett and carried. The City Manager reported that informal bids had been received from three firms for the supplying of tires to the City for the ensuing year and that the bid of the Dutton firm of Santa Ana was low. Adjournment On motion of Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman Smith and carried, award of the contract was deferred until the next meeting for investigation of recapping facilities available to the low bidder.
