The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in
Special meeting special session in the Council Chambers of the Newport Beach
city hall at the hour of 12 noon for the purpose of authorizing
the opening of an escrow for the purchase of "Inspiration
Point" in Corona del Mar by the use of matching land credits
and matching moneys and representation at a State park meeting.
All members of the council signed waiver of notice of
the special meeting. The following councilmen were present:
Broering, Smith, Bennett, and Hill.
C. Mgr. reported on The City Manager notified the council that he had been
Inspiration Pt. & talk informed by Mr. Powell of the State Division of Beaches and
with Mr. Powell of Sto Parks that if "Inspiration Pointe were to be acquired, it would
be necessary to institute escrow proceedings at once.
Councilman Smith moved that the City Manager be directed
Authorization given to to use matching land credits now held by the city and private
proceed with acquisition contributions to complete the acquisition of the property
by use of matching land known as "Inspiration Point ". The motion was seconded by

vote, to wit:

ocean front.

NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: None
Councilman Smith moved that the City Manager and City
Attorney be instructed to contact the State Division of Beaches
and Parks and ask them what assurance the state will give the
city that lands used in matching, if any, will be used for
park, beach and recreation purposes only. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Broering and carried.
s Mayor Hill stated that she would not be in favor of
the transfer of matching lands on the ocean front or of trans-
ferring to the state intervening blocks between property now
held by the state and Blocks 21 -A, 22 -A, and 23 -A. Councilman
Bennett stated that he was of the same opinion.
On motion of Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman

Adjournment On motion of Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman
Broering and carried, the council adjourned sine die.
