Hearing for taxicabs. He announced that notices of
re hearing had been sent to the Checker Cab Com- ;

of Ratds Yellow Cab of Newport and Costa Mesa.

Company, spoke from the audience requesting
that rates be established by the Council as

Herman Tate, owner of the Yellow Cab Company, ;

spoke from the audience requesting that the
rates be established as set forth in his app-
lication. The main difference in the scheduled

was that the Checker Cab Company proposed a
charge of 50 cents for the first mile, and the;

Yellow Cab proposed a charge of 50 cents for ;
the first 3/4 mile. Acting City Attorney John;
Penney stated that his interpretation of the
ordinance was that a rate established by the
' City should be applicable to all cab companies;,

and it would be possible to interpret the
ordinance to mean that a maximum and minimum
