HEARINGS:
1. (Agenda Item E -1) Mayor Stoddard opened a public hearing
regarding the request of Ralph P. Maskey for a 12 foot
exit on Clubhouse Avenue from his parking lot, located
at 510 Clubhouse Avenue; Lot 3, Block 532, Canal Sec-
tion.
Letters from the following individuals opposing Mr.
Maskey's proposal were presented: Zella Autry, Mrs.
Ina Franklin, Mrs. Leonard La Vaute. A letter was
presented from Phil and Eileen Rapp, owners of prop-
erty adjoining subject lot, approving of the access on
Clubhouse Avenue. The Clerk read the letters from
Mrs. Franklin, Mrs. La Vaute, and Mr. and Mrs. Rapp.
A letter was presented stating that the Planning Commis-
sion unanimously approved the request of Mr. Ralph P.
Maskey. Mr. Ralph Maskey spoke from the audience,
and his pictures depicting the present status of the park-
ing lot, fences, and plantings were presented.
No one else desired to speak from the audience. The Motion x
hearing was closed. All Ayes
Mr. Maskey's request for a 12 foot exit on Clubhouse
Avenue for his parking lot was approved, and the con- Motion x
dition, previously imposed by the Council that the side All Ayes
lines of .the parking lot be planted with a 6 foot high
hedge or a solid 6 foot wall, was rescinded.

5. Letter from Dee Breen expressing appreciation for the
type of employees selected.to be.City employees, citing
.particularly Mr. Gordon Kilmer of the Parks, Beaches
and Recreation Division who found a wallet belonging to
Mr. Breen's son, containing valuable papers and ap-
es proximately $10 in cash, on the Corona del Mar State
and City Beach. Mr. Kilmer turned it over to the
Police Department who subsequently returned the mallet
intact to its owner.
6. Letter from Mrs. Cecil F. Martin, Corresponding
Secretary of the Woman's Civic League of Newport
Harbor, expressing appreciation for thefine:services
rendered by Robert Shelton as City Manager, stating
that: it has always been a pleasure to consult with him
