ing, with the. .hearing, as to Parcels 2. and 3, and that if the
-,Council wanted to proceed. with the hearing regarding
Parcel 1, and consider what course of action..they, might
take, regarding Parcels Z. and 3, they might do so„ but
that. -they should.not open or hold the hearing, on Parcels
Z. and 3. Councilman Lorenz requested the Clerk to read
a proposed resolution. conditionally abandoning street
vacation proceedings. as,to Parcels. 2..and 3, .initiated.by
Resolution No. 5455. The Clerk read said resolution,
and Councilman Lorenz made. a.motion to adopt it.
A discussion. ensued,. the following, people spoke from the
audience: Attorney E. D. Yeomans, representing the
Pacific Electric Company; Attorney Richard Franck,
representing the'State.of California Division of Highways;
and Mr. Ben Reddick. Councilman Lorenz withdrew his

It was:directed_that.the:Board. of Supervisors be advised
as follows:
1. The City Council. reaffirms.its disapproval. of the
July 12 resolution of the Board. of Supervisors. in
which, the .extension of 120: days to October 25,; 1961,
was granted.
2. The City Council approves.the. terms. of the July Z5
resolution of the Board. of Supervisors setting, out the
conditions, under .which. an assignment would be favor-
ably considered.
3. Mr. Carver's letter. of August 2„ 1961,; to, the Board
o€ Supervisors,. being, inconsistent with the Board's
resolution -of July 25,; is, unsatisfactory and.the: terms
are not acceptable. to the' city.
4. It -is. the: recommendation of the City Council. that..the
Board. of Supervisors take-action, when.the matter. is
is considered. on August 16, 1961,_ to advise Mr.
'Carver: that he must comply with.,the.,terms of the
lease: by August 30,:19.61, or produce. an- acceptable
. assignee, that can comply with.:the. terms, of the.lease
and, if he has not done so„ it would be the, intention
of the Board, of Supervisors to. give: notice.. of default
at that.time.
