Mayor Gruber opened the public hearing regarding the appeal of the Newport Harbor American- Legion Post No.. 291 from the decision.of the Planning Commission denying the application of said Post No.. 291 for Use Permit No. 1048, to have an electric roof sign 73" by 5311, equalling 27 square feet, and identifying the American Legion Post No. 291. The City Clerk presented letters opposing the .proposed sign from Mr., and Mrs. John Henry Russell,, and. from James Stuart, A. G. Barstow and !Elizabeth Stuart Barstow. . The findings. of the Planning Commission. were presented. Mrs. John Henry Russell spoke from the audience and presented.a letter, similar to the letter she had written, which bears the endorsement of opposition of Mr.. and Mrs. Kenneth M. Dixon.
