CURRENT BUSINESS:
1. The City Clerk submitted her Certificate of Canvass,
Gen Mun
dated April 18, 1972, as to the results of the votes
Election
cast on April 11, 1972 in the General Municipal
Election. She declared that the total number of votes
cast in the City of Newport Beach was 11, 369 and
that the following Councilmen were elected:
District Two Donald A. McInnis
District Five Paul Ryckoff
District Seven John Store
2. Resolution No. 7677, a resolution of the City Council
R -7677
of the City of Newport Beach reciting the fact of the
General Municipal Election held in said City on the
11th day of April, 1972, declaring the result thereof
and such other matters as are provided by law, with

as Exhibit A, was adopted, after the reading of the

resolution was waived.
3. The privilege of the floor was extended to Councilman
Parsons.
Councilman Croul arrived and took his seat at the
Council table.
Mayor Hirth expressed his appreciation and--thanks to
the City staff;, the Council and to his many friends in
the City for their help and cooperation during his
term of office.
Councilman McInnis, as the senior member present,
on behalf of the Council, presented Councilman Par =:
sons with a bronze plaque in appreciation of his dedi-
cated services to the City of Newport Beach as
Councilman from 1964 to 1972 and as Mayor Pro
-
Tempore from 1968 to 1970. Councilman McInnis
presented Mayor Edgar F. Hirth with a bronze plaque
for his dedicated services to the City of Newport
Beach as Councilman from 1968 to 1972 and as Mayor
from 1970 to 1972 and also presented him with a
mounted gavel in recognition of his outstanding leader-
ship as Mayor of the City of Newport Beach.
Mayor Edgar Hirth and Councilman Lindsley Parsons
retired from the Council table.

NEW BUSINESS:
1. City Clerk Laura Lagios requested the elected candi-
dates to come forward. She administered the Oath of
Office, as prescribed in the State Constitution, and
delivered to each a Certificate of Election.
Councilman Paul Ryckoff and Councilman John Store
took their seats at the Council table.
2. City Clerk Laura Lagios presided over the meeting
for selection of the new Mayor.

Donald A. McInnis was unanimously elected as Mayor
of the City of Newport Beach.
Mayor McInnis took office, expressed appreciation to
his fellow Councilmen for their confidence, and
stated his objectives and goals.

3. The election of Mayor Pro Tempore was postponed to

April 24 for a full Council to be present.

Mayor McInnis read a letter from Mayor Pro Tempore
Rogers offering his apologies for not being present and
expressing congratulations to the new Councilmen.
ADDITIONAL BUSINESS:
1. The Council officially received the City Manager's
Budget
recommended Budget for the Fiscal Year 1972,73„
