A report was presented from the Community Develop-
ment Department.
The City Clerk stated that a letter had been received
from Collins Radio Company stating that their airport
consultants' study showed that their proposed develop-
ment would have a nominal impact on the airport, and
as further evidence that Orange County Airport is
nonessential to their proposal, they will render all
reasonable assistance to limit or remove the Orange
County Airport.
The following people spoke from the audience in favor
of the proposed development; Meredith Wilson,
architect representing Collins Radio; Bill Frost of
Raub, Bein, Frost & Associates; Peter Tilton, Vice
President of Real Estate Research Corporation;
Robert Crawley of Quinton - Budlong; Roger Hopkins
of Collins Radio; Lowell Martindale, attorney repre-
senting Collins Radio; Dan Emory and Russ Ford,
commercial and industrial realtor.
Larry Moore, Associated Planning Administrator for
The Irvine Company, and Allan Beek spoke in op-
position to the proposed development.
Councilman Croul made a motion to continue the
hearing for another two weeks.
Councilman Kymla made a substitute motion to con-
tinue the hearing to August 14 when a. full Council
would be present.

A letter from Hoag Hospital requesting to be exempt
from high -rise limitations was presented. The Clerk
stated that a letter from the West Newport Beach
Improvement Association strongly encouraging the
City to initiate density limits in combination with
height limits had been received.
The following spoke from the audience suggesting
certain additions, deletions and amendments: Larry
Moore and Al Auer of The Irvine Company; Kent
Snyder, representing Ardell Investment Company;
Dan Olmstead; Bob Orman, representing the Harbor
View Hills Homeowners Association; Tom Houston,
member of the Newport Beach Residents United; Jack
Sherwood of Cannery Village; and Tom Hyans, Presi-
dent of the Central Newport Beach Community Associ-
ation.
Councilman Kymla made a motion to instruct the
staff to add to Ordinance No. 1454 the amendments
discussed at the meeting, and to bring back for intro-
duction on July 24 and for setting for public hearing
on August 14.
