CURRENT BUSINESS:
1. Acting City Clerk Doris George submitted her Certificate

of Canvass as to the results of votes cast on April 13,

1976, in the General Municipal Election, which Certi-

ficate is attached hereto and made a past of these
Minutes.
The Acting City Clerk stated that the total number of
votes cast in the City was 9,175 and that the following
Councilmen were elected:
District Two Donald A. McInnis
District Five Paul Ryckoff
District Seven Ray E. Williams
2. Resolution No. 8750, a resolution of the City Council
R -87
of the City of Newport Beach reciting the fact of the
General Municipal Election held in said City on the
13th day of April, 1976, declaring the result thereof
and such other matters as are provided by law; Acting
City Clerk's Certificate of Canvass attached thereto
as Exhibit A, was presented.

The reading of the resolution was waived, and Reso-

lution No. 8750 was adopted.
3. The privilege of the floor was extended to Councilman

Store.
Councilman Store expressed his pleasure in having
worked with the Council and complimented the staff on
their performance.

Mayor McInnis, on behalf of the Council, presented
a bronze plaque to Councilman Store in appreciation
for his services to the City as Councilman from 1972
to 1976.
Mayor McInnis turned the meeting over to the Acting City
Clerk.
4. Acting City Clerk Doris George requested the elected
candidates to come forward. She administered the Oath
of Office, as prescribed in the State Constitution,
and delivered to each a Certificate of Election.
Councilmen Donald A. McInnis, Paul Ryckoff and Ray E.

Williams took their seats at the Council table.

been nominated for Mayor by a majority vote.

Councilman Rogers was elected Mayor by unanimous vote.

Councilman Rogers took office and expressed his
appreciation to the Council for their confidence,
commented on the Council's goals and pledged himself
to work toward the accomplishment of those goals.

followed for election of Mayor Pro Tempore, nominations
by secret ballot and election by roll call vote.
The Acting City Clerk announced that Milan Dostal had
been nominated as Mayor Pro Tem by a majority vote.

Councilman Dostal was elected Mayor Pro Tem by

unanimous vote.
Mayor Pro Tem Dostal thanked everyone and commended
former Mayor McInnis on his outstanding performance
in that office.
3. The Council decided on the new seating arrangement of
the Council table.

I, DORIS GEORGE, Acting City Clerk of the City of Newport
Beach, County of Orange, State of California, duly authorized
by Resolution No. 8708 adopted by the City Council of said
City on the 23rd day of February, 1976, do hereby certify
that I have canvassed the returns of the regular general
municipal election held in said City on the 13th day of April,
1976, and find that the number of votes given at each precinct
and the number of votes given in the City to persons voted for
and the respective offices for which said persons were candidates
were as listed on the attached.
