Subject: plastic ban
I am an Family Practice MD practicing in the community, a (Volunteer now) Facutly (Full Prof) in the Dept
of Fam Med at UCI, spent two terms on the Huntington Beach Environmental Board (almost 8 yrs), own two
properties in NB and am a member of the water board of NB. So, I hopefully have some credibility as I come
to you with the following request.
I understand that you will be considering a plastic ban at the meeting tomorrow. I wanted you to know that I
would request that you pass the plastic ban. Other cities are doing it (apparently Laguna Beach is set to do
so. AND, I have heard Huntington Beach is also considering), there is clear evidence that plastic is not good for
the environment that we want to live in (and leave to our progeny) and a ban is the most effective mode to help
start the process of have corporations convert to biodegradable alternatives.
I am sorry, but doubt I will be able to come to the meeting.
sincerely,
Fred Galluccio, MD, FAAFP
