Grouting and Inspection of non -Retaining CMU Site Walls
Dear Mr. Trotta,
Per your request, we have reviewed the calculations and drawings for the above referenced project. Please
be advised as follows:
Where the CMU site walls were not grouted in accordance with the plan specifications, the contractor
may mover forward with a high 'lift grouting condition, assuming the following procedures are
performed:
• Grout shall be a high -slump workable mix, placed with a mechanical vibrator such that the
grout fills all voids.
• Grout shall attain a min compressive strength of 2000 psi at 28 days.
• Grout shall contain an admixture of the type that reduced early water loss.
• Provide cleanout openings for all walls at the bottom of every reinforced cell. Clean out
openings shall be sufficient in size to allow thorough removal of all motor droppings and
debris.
• Special inspection shall be required for the grout as specified in the attached table.
The recommendations above are provided based upon our review of calculations and drawings generated
from information the client provided. No observation was made of the structural integrity, materials used
or quality of work of any portions of the structure.
We hope this meets your needs. If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please call this
office at your convenience.
Very truly yours,
