Newport Beach Residential Noise Standard For Noise Zone 1 (residential) the N. B. regulation's daytime noise level standard (maximum noise level from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.) is 55 dBA — corrected for ambient noise. The nighttime noise standard (max noise level from 7 a.m, to 10 p.m.) is 50 dBA. The measurement is corrected for ambient noise and rounded to the nearest decibel as shown below. I am pleased to report that measured pool and or spa apparatus noise meets the Newport Beach noise standard for 24-hour use. Pertinent details of my findings are reported below. Locations and values of daytime noise measurements Uncorrected pool and or spa noise + ambient noise measured at property line: 48.80 dBA Ambient noise level measured at this location: not needed Pool and or spa equipment noise corrected for ambient noise: not applicable Pool and or spa equipment noise rounded to the nearest decibel: 49 dBA 49 dBA (Pass for 24 hour use) The currently installed pool and or spa apparatus noise of 49 dBA meets the Newport Beach noise code for both "daytime" use (7 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and "nighttime" use (10 p.m. to 7 a.m.), since the noise corrected for ambient does not exceed 50 dBA.
