Subject: pubic comment: local folks in small businesses
Thanks for the special Council meeting! More than ever, leadership is needed in crisis.
Many of us have been thinking: How can local folks in small businesses be helped? I have a small idea: an
aggressive Buy Local campaign.
It's actually part of the Sustainability Plan. Some of us have been talking about it for years. It's not an easy
project. But this community has creative minds and devoted volunteers. Let's do it!

Subject: Feedback for Newport Beach Library
You have received this feedback from Shana Winokur < ms.winokur@yahoo.com > for the following page:
https://www.newportbeachIibrary.org/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/59825/11906
Plan to cancel the early April events also. Keep libraries CLOSED until April 7.This WILL be necessary, so due diligence
says to cancel now. Consider how you can limit gatherings later in April to a number that permits seating people further
away (the 6 ft rule). Take reservations for smaller numbers, and make the events ABOUT the current pandemic situation.
When libraries reopen, have staff or volunteers be door guards that count people entering and limit the number who
can be in the building and various rooms. Ask people to check out books and leave --do not study or read in the library.
Let's hunker down and save our communities!

Subject: City Council meetings
Members of the City Council,
Following Tuesday's executive order from the Orange County Health Care Agency to slow the transmission of COVID-19
(coronavirus). I request all City Council public meetings on agenda items be continued to a future time, except those
involving the public health, safety and welfare or other routine municipal affairs.
I am a senior citizen and as such, federal, state and local health organizations have stated people of my age are at higher
risk of serious illness should I contract the COVID-19 (coronavirus). Attending future City Council meetings on matters
not involving the public health, safety and welfare or routine municipal affairs will place high risk Newport Beach
residents such as myself and other attendees to increased risk of exposure to the coronavirus.
While I recognize members of the public are encouraged to view Council meetings online and submit comments by
email, given the unprecedented threat the World is facing, many residents who would normally participate in municipal
affairs may be consumed by other matters and not be able to participate. Spontaneous public input is being
discouraged by this process.
Additionally, the decision making capability of the City Council may be affected should senior citizen members of the
Council choose not to or be unable to attend. The wisdom of the senior members of the Council represent an important
balance in the decision making process.
This step would be consistent with other actions taken by local governments.
Thank you,
Dave Tanner

How is it that all your employees are still in their offices??
The PRESIDENT has instructed us to stay home.
Council members are not physically there, so why are all other employees present??

First, thanks to all of you for being in the field!
Re Jim Mosher's suggestions on handling public comments in the social distancing council meetings, I wanted
to share my experience from San Clemente last night.
• City clerk set the timer for 3min, and read the emailed public comment.
• I emailed my comment for one agenda item, she said no comment. I can imagine some of the things
got lost during this extra hectic time.
Extra thinks for the extra work you're doing...
