RE: Santa Barbara Condos (Resolution No. 2006-2) Extension Request
Dear Mrs. McDermott:
On August 4, 2011, the City received your 3-year extension request of the development
approvals authorized under City Council Resolution No. 2006-2. This resolution was
approved by the City Council on January 10, 2006, and became effective on the Coastal
Commission approval date of September 5, 2009. This resolution authorized a number
of approvals, some of which will expire soon.
The following approvals authorized by the Resolution are effective and do not require
extensions:
o General Plan Amendment No. 2004-005
o Coastal Land Use Plan Amendment No.2005-004 (Per Resolution No. 2007-
56)
• Tentative Parcel Map l it. 2005-014 (Parcel Map recorded 3/26/08)
The following approvals authorized by the Resolution are currently effective, but are set
to expire on September 5, 2011 (24 months from the effective date of date of
September 5, 2009):
• Coastal Residential Development Perrnit No. 2005-004
O Traffic Study No. 2005-002
Additionally. Tentative Tract Map N2004-004 (TTM16774) authorized by .he
Resolution is currently effective, but is set to expire September 5, 2014. Per Condition
No. 3 of the Resolution, the Tentative Tract Map would have normally expired on
September 5, 2011; however, pursuant to Government Code Section 66452.23, the life
of the map has automatically been extended an additional 24 months.

Pursuant to Condition No. 3 of the Resolution, the Director has the authority to grant
reasonable extensions for the Coastal Residential Development Permit and the Traffic
Study. The City understands that the project has been put on hold because of economic
circumstances and, therefore, is granting a 3-year extension of these approvals. The
new expiration date for these approvals is now Sep.2ernft er 5, 2014. Please note that no
additional extensions for these approvals can be granted.
With regard to the Tentative Tract Map, the City Council has the discretion to extend the
life of the map for an additional period or periods not exceeding five years per Sectisn
19.16.020.A of the Newport Beach Municipal Code. Therefore, the life of the tentat ve
tract map may potentially be extended to September 5, 2019, upon approval of the City
Council, should you need to further extend the life of the map in the future.
Please see the attached table for a breakdown of the various development approvals
and expirations dates.
