Alternate Concrete Arch Bridge Design
• Same advantages as previously approved 3 -span
concrete bridge (similar construction cost)
• Single -span bridge with structural and aesthetic
concrete arch (in place of two concrete columns)
• Eliminate possibility of vehicles running into
concrete columns (improve safety)
• Similar height as 3 -span bridge (no additional view
obstruction)
• Support from City Council Working Group
• Recommend proceeding with concrete arch bridge

Funding — WCH Widening and Ped Bridge
• Included in FY 2020-21 CIP (Design only)
• Received M2 grant funding in May 2020 (65% up to
$780,000)
• Recommend PSA Amendments with current design team
to complete the environmental review and design efforts
totaling $1.2M
• $420,000 (35% of $1.2M) available from FFP
Parks/Facilities in current CIP
• Seek additional grant funding for R/W and Construction
phases
• Additional City matching funds needed for R/W and
Construction (Future CIP)
Schedule — WCH Widening and Ped Bridge

➢ Sept 2020 to Sept 2022 (24 months)
• Permitting (Caltrans and CCC) and R/W Acquisition
