Honorable City Council, My name is Bethany Hernandez. I'm writing this to express my strong opposition to Prop 16. Proposition16 uses race to judge the qualifications of applicants to universities, to jobs, etc. This is the text book's definition of racism, pure and simple. If it is passed, how far will we slide down this slippery, dangerous slope? What's next? Set racial quartos for elected positions? Set racial quartos for NBA and NFL? Set racial quartos for TV anchors? Please join us to vote 'NO' against proposition16. Thank you for your attention. kOctober 13, 2020 Non -Agenda Item TO THOSE OF CONCERN: Subject: OCEAN POLLUTION Everyday hundreds of gallons of paint are being scrubbed off into our oceans. This pollution specifically happens when hull cleaners, like myself, clean boats that have from one month to several months of algae growth. Most boat owners request cleaning on a monthly basis. Some wait longer. Unfortunately, the..longer.they wait -the more algae and paint.gets scrubbed and scraped off during cleaning. :a major concern because we hull cleaners must scrub and scrape this excessive tt'of algae and paint to successfully clean the boat. However, as a result of the boat paint is also removed. Algae deteriorates in the ocean but the paint stays stroys natural sea life. I would appreciate your support in implementing a cant solution to this critical part of ocean pollution. RECOMMENDATION FOR CONSERVATION , $, Boat owners should have their boats cleaned twice per month in summer and once per month in winter before the algae grows into the boat paint. This will allow for only a z :, munmurn amount of algae to be wiped off and no dangerous paint scrubbed off. This service :will also be less expensive for boat owners as well. Please contact me regarding this issue. I would be happy to provide you with any further information. you may need. To those it may Concern, Boat yards are putting the wrong kind of paint on boat hulls. If they use the right kind of paint, paint sellers will lose a lot of money: and they know it. So on most boat hulls, they put on what they call "soft paint" that comes off when touched. They tell boat owners to not clean for the first 2 to 3 months, insuring it has to be scrubbed off. After this they then clean every month, which insures they have customers coming back for paint every 3 to 5 years. Although, some wait longer and even have paint get scrubbed off into the ocean, which stays on the ocean floor. They choose to do this instead of putting a hard paint on boat hulls and having a diver clean it. Before algae grows onto the paint has to be scrubbed off into the ocean. Finding out for yourself would be easy to do. You just take a boat and paint it with the soft paint and clean it the way they suggest. Then take another boat and paint it with hard paint and clean it before any algae grows onto the paint. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Jerry M.
