Public Comment on Meals on Wheels & Styrofoam by Hoiyin Ip
Dear City Council,
In June, I made a public comment on Meals on Wheels's Styrofoam containers, and asked Newport Beach,
Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente to talk to them for eco -friendly packaging. I know Dana Pont and
San Clemente no longer get Styrofoam. I've not heard from Newport Beach.
Now, Meals on Wheels is featured by Stu News's Spotlight on Philanthropy, with this picture. This meal comes
with a Styrofoam container on a Styrofoam tray wrapped in unrecyclable single -use plastic film.

It may be an old picture. I hope the packaging is improved. Can it be made sure? BTW this picture is from Food
Packaging Forum's study about the chemicals used. Meals on Wheels and their patrons may want to know it.
Toxic effects: 608 food contact chemicals `
identified as most hazardous.
