ITEM NO. Af
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER
FEBRUARY 13, 1995
TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
SUBJECT: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
D=EB t 31995
ACTION: If desired, approve Resolution 95- amending the
membership and duties of the Economic Development
Committee
BACKGROUND: The EDC was appointed in January 1993. Based on the
experience since that time, an expansion of the Committee is proposed. Both the
existing and proposed resolutions are attached.
DISCUSSION: The current membership is 10 with alternates for each making a
total of 20 since most alternates attend the meetings. The proposal expands the
members to 24, largely by adding members with special expertise and from all the
City's business districts. The expansion of duties to include marketing and permit
streamlining reflect needs identified by the Committee.
RECOMMENDATION: The amendments were proposed and reviewed by
Councilmembers Hedges, Cox and Glover who serve on the EDC.
