I am in agreement with your note below. A few follow-on questions: 1) Mr. Cosylion has issued a few code enforcement letters. I would appreciate a confirmation from you that we can disregard these outstanding invoices, and that any related penalty fees will be reversed and that our file with the city will show no code enforcement infractions and no outstanding or unpaid penalties. 2) Perhaps a loftier issue .. .in the future, we might like to put a true deck on top of the house. A permit and engineering would certainly be required. Are you aware of any reason that the city would not allow such a project? Thanks again for your help. The biggest concern I have is the use of the your roof. You cannot use the roof as usable space. First, roofs are not structurally designed for permanent loading and second it is completely unsafe. 1 PA2019-038 I think if you were to guarantee/ promise to not use the roof then we can move forward and be done with this issue. Let me know your position? Let me spend some time with this and get back to you next week. One question I have is what do think the overall height of the house is? Talk to you soon. I'm pleased that Tony Petros put me in touch with you. 2 PA2019-038 Per our conversation, attached are a few photos. As I mentioned to you, we originally put a full height hand-rail on our roof which we then removed at the direction of the city in 2013. What you see in these photos is a series of 12" (twelve inch) high glass panels near the perimeter of our roof, with potted plants behind. I've put my tape measure in a few of the shots to ensure scale. We love the way this looks, and consider these features to be purely ornamental. I'm hopeful that with your involvement we can find a way to close the file and leave what we have in place. Here's what the house looks like from the street. <image00 1.jpg> Below is a shot from the roof looking back towards where the shot (above) was taken from. As you can see, the glass is about a foot tall. <image002.jpg> Below is another shot showing how short the glass and potted plants are. <image003 .jpg> Below is a shot of the front edge. <image004.jpg> As you can see Mr. Jurjis, we have no handrail, and no deck. Just a roof with potted plants and a low strip of glass panels along the perimeter. The plants are desert style, low water plants, requiring very little maintenance. We have a custom made teak ladder leaning against the house to gain access to the roof 3 PA2019-038 should we need to maintain those plants. The ladder has no keeper bolts and is not fixed in place, though we leave it where it is as it's quite heavy. Again, it's my hope that with these photos and your guidance, we can help Mr. Cosylion bring this conversation to an end and close this file. I truly appreciate any assistance you can bring in this regard.
