Re: Shell Station Car Wash
Dear Mayor Avery and Council members:
It is my understanding that the City Council will be reviewing the approval by the
Planning Commission of a proposed car wash tunnel for the Shell station at Jamboree
and San Joaquin Hills. I would urge you to approve this project.
As a long time resident of Corona del Mar of over 35 years, I am aware that there are
very few car wash locations in Newport and most of them are up in the airport area.
Even the ones here in Newport tend to be very expensive such as the Beacon Bay car
wash in Fashion Island and the Car Spa on coast highway.
The location on Jamboree and the fact that it is a very large piece of property seem to
make it the only realistic location to add a car wash locally. It is conveniently located to
my home and I much prefer this option to having to wash my car in the street with the
wasted water and the runoff into the bay and harbor.
Sincerely,
Joe Garrett

Please vote in favor of the Shell gas station owner on adding a car wash to the property.
There are very few options in the City, especially on the east side of the bay to get a car
washed. This is just down the street from my house and would help with the lines that
occur on the weekend at the other local car washes.
Warm wishes,
