Dear Council and Planning Commission members:
Re: Irvine Company Proposed Redevelopment and Traffic Rerouting for Westcliff Plaza
Please note in the attached photos that this horrible injury accident occured on Tuesday,March 30, 2021 at 5:00pm
directly in front of Mariners Elementary School. Fortunately, school was not in session andtherefore no students, traffic or parents were involved (thus traffic was also greatly reduced).
In addition, the new development on the corner of Mariners and Irvine Avenue was not yetoccupied. Can you imagine trying to navigate this blind, bi-level intersection when class is in
session AND the new development is occupied? Add the Westcliff redevelopment proposaland you will have a perfect storm for increased traffic flows and accidents. All cars,
pedestrians and bicycles will be at risk.
The traffic is already horrendous and the Irvine Company wants to expand Westcliff Plaza andreroute traffic via Rutland!
This is reckless behavior and an unwanted intrusion into our neighborhood from folks whoDO NOT LIVE HERE!
This is a disaster only to be exasperated if the Westcliff plaza re-configuration is allowed.
Please make the right decision and not allow this proposed project to move forward!
Thank you.
