Subject: Proposed condo units at Old Ford Rd.
Having been a resident in Bonita Canyon for 18 years (and having raised 3 kids during that time) I can
attest to the already extremely dangerous traffic issues that exist in and around the the intersections at
Bonita Canyon Rd. and Mesa View and Bonita Canyon Rd. And Mac Arthur Blvd.
The left turn lanes are not adequate to accommodate the traffic from either of the stop signs/lights
creating backup at the intersections; cars pulling out of stopped traffic into fast moving lanes and drivers
trying to wedge into left turn lanes...... This is the CURRENT situation! There are numerous ball parks and
bike paths where kids enjoy a slower paced Old Ford road that dead ends in a park. Please understand
the need for families with children to keep these rare spaces relatively “open”. Communities all over
Orange County are finding the lifestyle once afforded them (with their tax dollars) being “robbed “by
greedy developers .
Please understand that families and parks are what bring stability to a community. There is so little park
space and refuge from speeding cars and trucks in Newport Beach now. It is a sad commentary on the
“value system “ of our community leaders.
Where is the Botanic Garden? A community farm or vegetable garden? Mission Viejo is now
incorporating these healthy concepts into their strategic planning rather than covering every square inch
of open land with another “development.”
Please consider healthy options for this use of land and not endanger the kids that live here and would
be impacted by the added menace of more traffic!
