Subject: Ford Road Residential Project
Mr. Zdeba,
My family is a resident of the Bonita Canyon neighborhood and I grew up in Newport Beach,
graduating from Corona del Mar High School in 1989. While I understand and can appreciate
that a certain level of residential and commercial development is inevitable and beneficial to our
community, this project seems excessive. The intersection of MacArthur and Ford Road has had
substantial development over the years beginning with the build out of Bonita Canyon Road, the
Bluffs and the Bonita Canyon neighborhood we live in and ending with the completion of the
bike path, parking lot and landscaping of the South East corner of this intersection.
The development of the Bonita Canyon Park Sports Park, tennis courts, soccer field, pickle ball
courts and adjacent parking lot has created a fun area for our local families to enjoy the outdoors
close by our homes. I believe the forced insertion of a 21 unit complex into this small area will
substantially disrupt the harmony of this area. Furthermore, the project would create a potential
public safety issue with the increased traffic on what is now a quiet road and park that is often
full of kids and family members.
My humble opinion is that this small sliver of land would be best served left as is for the
betterment of the community and the enjoyment of those of us whom live nearby.
Thank you for your consideration.
