Subject: 4302 Ford Road
Hi Ben,
I am a Port Street homeowner and I am asking the city to please conduct an Environmental
Impact assessment on the proposed development at 4302 Ford Road.
The plan as it currently exists threatens the safety of the many, many children who play at the
adjacent park, and who ride their bikes on the bike path towards CDM. In fact, the NMUSD
Board has been trying to reduce traffic congestion at CDM middle and high schools by
encouraging MORE students to ride their bikes to school.
In addition, the parking plan proposed by Hines is unrealistic for the size of the condo project.
They are clearly planning to use city lots at Bonita Canyon Sports Park for condo resident/guest
parking.
Many Port Streets homeowners have realistic expectations and are not asking the city not to
allow a condo development. We are simply asking that the city help to guide the development in
a way that keeps our city's children safe.
We request the following:
1) An environmental impact assessment for the proposed condo development that includes noise
pollution, trash and waste impact, water usage impact, pedestrian safety, traffic safety, and the
use of city property for private parking.
2) A driveway redesign that allows daily delivery trucks to drive forward in and out of the condo
development. This could be a u-shaped driveway, a side road that extends from Old Ford Road to
Bonita Canyon, etc.
3) A greater parking spot/condo ratio than currently exists, so that there will be no need for
condo residents or their guests to park at the public park.
Thank you for reading my request.
