Subject: 4302 Ford Road Project
Ben,
I would like to draw your attention , the Planning Dept.’s, and the City Council’s to the event of Sat May
25th in which a EMT vehicle was requested to Ford Road because of a pedestrian being hit. This is the
same road, and only access road, which the above proposed project would rely on for access for
residents, visitors, service vehicles, and emergency services.
Fortunately, the pedestrian was not seriously hurt. However, any observation of weekdays between 4 to
7 or all day Saturday would reveal the heavy use and parking on Ford Road is close to capacity and
cannot bear additional use. Consequently, the above project would create a greater safety risk than
currently exists and all approvals should be denied. The General Plan Amendment should be denied,
there should not be a Zoning Code change, and the Tentative Tract Map not issued.
Ford Road is currently a safety risk as it runs on the inland (east side) direction towards the proposed
project. The Ford Road, bordering the Sports Park is currently being used as a parking lane, bike lane,
and thoroughfare lane – which there is not enough room for all three unless special precaution is
exercised by all of the three use participants. To add additional traffic in the quantity of over 100 vehicle
and truck passing’s per day would not only seem unreasonable but irresponsible – hence I am
expressing my objection to any furtherance of the above project on a public safety basis.
If you could please pass this message on to the City Council and the Planning commissioners, it would be
greatly appreciated,
