Ben,
Thanks again for your time earlier today.
Had what was supposed to be a small Port Sheffield / Port Abbey meeting in the park near the
project tonight and lets just say was a passionate turn out - see attached. One good thing that
came out of the meeting was that Hines was going to adapt their project for condos only and no
multi family. Hines also said they will try and push back May 6 public input timing to allow for
more input as many people were surprised and unaware of the project until recently.
Per our conversation here are a few other concerns/notes -
In my humble opinion project appears severely under parked. The result of that will be cars and
noise behind my house which already happens a lot from the park but would occur overnight and
more often/consistently. I would also propose "no overnight parking" along the street as
otherwise will become a parking lot.
Would like to see more large mature tress around the project to help further blend in, including
more trees in front of the current AT&T building.
Would look at speed bumps to slow down speed, people already drive fast along Ford.
The delivery area appears very small relative to the amount of deliveries these days, would
suggest larger area with turn around, backing out is difficult and dangerous.
With regards to community benefit and because the developer should make out well on this
project would like to see improved park equipment (current equipment is old and antiquated) and
improved nature trails in the proximity. Both would add value and negate some of the negatives
of the project..
---
Lastly, one question?
What is the current zoning of the AT&T station and potential for that to redeveloped in the
future?
Thanks again!
