Development of Newport Home will have a negative impact on our community in many ways. 1- Bonita Canyon Park is very popular and almost always crowded with small children and their parents. Parking is already limited and many people end up parking on the street. Adding additional traffic to an already congested area doesn't make a lot of sense. Wouldn't it be better to make this land additional park space for all resident to enjoy? 2 - It has come to my attention that the ATT facility contains toxic lead stored in outside containers and over the years lead has probably leaked into the adjacent property. 3 - Development on this site will set a bad precedent for future development of the vacant land east side of ATT or maybe even the ATT site itself. 4- The developer has stated that there is a need for apartment homes in the area when directly across Bonita Canyon Rd there is The Bluffs apartments with 1052 units and according the property manager there is always vacancy - where is the need? People who know the developer thinks this is just an excuse and the units will be for sale as condos. 5- Additional traffic on Old Ford Rd. There is no way to minimize the impact additional traffic will have on the quality of life of current Port street homeowners. How do you plan to slow down traffic from people rushing to get to and from work in an area already crowded with cars, kids, dogs etc. Please stop this boondoggle before it is too late.
