Subject: Modular Building Permit
Carden Hall has been a well-regarded and well-known educational establishment for grades Pre-K-8th in the community of Newport Beach, California since 1963.
Opportunity
In response to: ·The trend of increasing enrollment requiring additional classrooms,·Carden Hall’s traditionally small class sizes,· Compliance with local and federal COVID protocols since Carden Hall successfully
obtained the waiver by reducing each classroom population size.
Ultimately, the combination of traditional small classes and COVID space recommendations has created the need for additional classrooms that we currently do not have available on campus. To meet with not only our short-term needs but also our future permanent needs in the most cost-
effective manner, we have purchased a modular building to better serve our Pre-K program.
Reasoning Our state-mandated Pre-K license requires the separation of our Pre-K students from the general population with Pre-K specified classrooms, restrooms, and playground area.
Presently, our Pre-K only classrooms are situated within our regular classrooms; far from the designated Pre-K only play area; our students have to walk approximately 200 yards to and from the classroom areas to the dedicated playground before reentering the classroom or using the restrooms after outside play time.
In order to respond to and accommodate our increase in enrollment, it made logistical sense to move our Pre-K program to a modular classroom which will sit adjacent to the dedicated Pre-K playground area.
Conclusion
This new modular building will create the necessary additional classrooms to meet the needs of the increase in enrollment and will allow us to maintain the needed small class size within every grade level. Carden Hall will continue to grow and thrive through these uncertain times and beyond by
meeting the needs of our community.
