As a homeowner and full time resident of CDM, I am alarmed and dismayed by the proliferation of houses near me that are being used solely for AirBnB income. This has lowered our property values and created constant noise from parties almost every night until 2 or 3am. We also have to contend with the regular parking lot after parties from the loud, drunk people that stay, play loud music, fight, and drunksplain the drama of their evening. The Port Restaurant owner and management take no responsibility or action to prevent or stop this constant behavior. This is completely unfair to the residents and taxpayers. Having to wake up and call the police is a futile effort. We live at 2830 2nd Ave, Corona Del Mar, and there are at least 3 houses already on Airbnb between Goldenrod and Heliotrope on one block. Now the two houses across from us just sold, and it is clear that they are being prepared to also be short-term rentals. They were purchased explicitly for this purpose. This would make 5 houses on our block, short-term rental property houses. This is basically a commercial venture in a residential area. I need to know how to prevent permits from being issued. Is there a limit on number of permits given in any given area on the same block? This hurts out property value, sleep, and quality of life. I need help here. Any advice or action would be very much appreciated. Sincerely, James and Ana Lord
