SUBJECT: MEET -AND -CONFER FY 82/83 - NEWPORT BEACH PROFESSIONAL/TECH-

The City Neogtiating Team has reached an agreement with the Newport
Beach Professional/Technical Employees Association (NBPTEA). The
Agreement can be summarized as follows:
1. Total Compensation increase...... 10.0%
2. As a result of the unknown final premium increase
for the Indemnity Health & Dental Plan for FY 82/83
and in an effort to reach an agreement for FY 83/83,
the City Negotiating Team and NBPTEA have agreed to
utilize a 55% Medical/Dental premium increase for the
purpose of determining a proportionate salary increase.
The City and NBPTEA further agree that effective Jan. 1,
1983, the salaries of NBPTEA members will be adjusted
upward or downward to reflect the final premium established
for the Indemnity Health & Dental Plan.
3. Family Sick Leave: Employees will be allowed to use one (1)
eight (8) hour day of accrued sick leave per calendar year
for an illness of spouse, son or daughter which requires
the presence of the employee.
4. Tuition Reimbursement: Amends the current City policy from
6 semester or 9 quarter units and establishes a cost limit
of $450.00 per semester and $300.00 per quarter. The maxi-
mum reimbursement is $900.00 per Fiscal Year.
It is recommended that the attached Memorandum of Understanding for
Fiscal Year 1982/83 be approved.
