SUBJECT: MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING FY 1980-81
The City of Newport Beach has entered into agreements with t

A. Employees' League
1) Salary increase of 13.6%.
2) In addition, a 22% salary adjustment for 24 classifications, effective
1-1-81.
3) The City reserves the right to establish a separate retirement plan for
new employees.
4) An increase in the maximum annual dental benefit (basic and major) from
$500 to $750.
5) Additional holidays for the contract period of December 26, 1980, and
January 2, 1981. Members of the League will give up 2 day December 24,
and December 31, 1980.
6) An increase in night differential pay from 25d an hour to 37kt an hour.
7) Call-back pay of 50t an hour between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
8) Holiday week adjustment for employees working other than a 5 day/8 hour
work week.
9) Veterans' Day shall be celebrated November 11.
10) Agreement to meet/confer with League members regarding the selection of a
health maintenance organization (HMO) in a timely manner.
11) Language on a lay-off procedure.
B. Firefiahters' Association
1) Salary increase of 15.6% for the classification of Firefighter, Fire
Engineer and Fire Captain, and an 18.1% salary increase for Fire Paramedics.
2) An increase in the maximum annual dental benefit (basic and major) from
$500 to $750.
3) City pays entire cost for replacement of uniform shoes.
4) 5% Move -up pay for employees assigned to work in a higher classification,
subject to said employee having completed five 24-hour shifts for training
purposes.

5) Agreement to celebrate Veterans' Day on November 11.
6) Agreement to meet/confer with the Firefighters' Association
employees with regard to selection of a health maintenance
organization (HMO) in a timely manner.
