Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee: As a resident of Corona del Mar (CDM), I would like to support the redistricting Maps 1 and 2 on the City’s web page. These two maps seem to recognize the existing differences in the various villages that exist in our city and made minor changes in the District boundaries. Further, I would likely to strongly opposed Maps 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11. These maps seem on the verge of crazy to me, especially those that completely break up existing villages, such as CDM. Leaving out Shorecliffs, Cameo Shores, Cameo Highlands, Harbor View Hills and Harbor View Hills So. from CDM (as some of these maps do) is not appropriate as these communities are part of the build out of CDM and the issues that face these communities are similar (e.g., traffic on PCH). Maps 10 and 11 that break up the Flower Streets in CDM are completely unacceptable as the Flower Streets as a whole have always been the heart of CDM. At the same time Balboa Island , CDM, and the end of Balboa Peninsula (e.g., the Wedge) have always been separate “villages” (separate areas of the City) with separate concerns (Map 11). I’m sorry that I will likely miss the meeting on this very important topic, but thank you, in advance for consideration of my recommendations, comments, and concerns.
