Dear Mr. Langson:
This letter presents geotechnical parameters for use in the design and construction of the proposed pool at
the subject site. In the general, the recommendations presented in the referenced report are applicable for
the design of proposed pool improvements. Additional criteria are presented below.
The pool shell should be designed by a qualified pool engineer for the anticipated soil conditions
described in the referenced report. Design soil pressures may be based upon an at-rest equivalent fluid
pressure of 60 pounds per cubic foot. It is noted that groundwater elevations may reach 8+ feet under
extreme conditions, and the pool should be designed to resist possible hydrostatic uplift.
Please note that a pool incorporating an infinity/vanishing edge design is especially sensitive to future tilt
resulting from differential settlement, which is possible considering the deep bay deposits underlying the
site. A pool located at the rear of building pad is also subject to possible movement or shifting of the
adjacent bulkhead. Future maintenance and/or repair of a vanishing edge pool should be anticipated.
