Per your request, a site visit was conducted by a representative 6fo* ofpce, Mr. Alr.tlelcmac,
PhD, P.E., to observe the condition of the existing floating dock and its��Ebr ,piijesof the
referenced property on Friday October 30, 2020.
The purpose of our visit was to visually observe the condition of the dock and piles layout in the
absence of the drawings at the time of our visit. BY., M.K,
STATEMENT OF THE PREPARER'S QUALIFICATIONS
The undersigned, graduated with a bachelor degree in structural engineering from
"Sharif University of Technology" in Iran in February 1976. After gaining experience for
over nine years in construction industry, I joined "11 rlliam Simpson & Associates, Inc. " in
mid -1987 as a design engineer, and later on took the full ownership of the company in 1996.
I have been both a Licensed Civil Engineer — Cert No. C43463 - since 1988, and a
Licensed Structural Engineer - Cert No. 53812 - since 1993 in the State of California.
For over 30 years of my professional career, I have actively been involved in the design
of many Waterfront Developments such as custom homes, seawalls, piers, platforms, floating
docks and marinas. A great number of floating docks and their piling design performed by
me or collaborated with have been reviewed and approved by the City of Newport Beach.
The existing dock, built 2014-15, is a 38ft long x 6ft wide held in-place with three 12" square
pre -stressed concrete piles, spaced at 18ft and 12ft, starting from landside. Both the dock, the
piles and the pile guides are all in good condition.
Conducting analysis on the piles, we have concluded that both bayward piles must be replaced
by a 16"qsuare and an 18" square pile to accommodate a 55ft long boat.
