Webb, Public Works Director - 949-644-3311, dawebb@newportbeachca.gov PREPARED BY: Tom Sandefur, Assistant City Engineer, tandefur@newportbeachca.gov PHONE: 949-644-3321 TITLE: Cliff Drive Clubhouse Rehabilitation — Notice of Completion for Contract No. 8695-1 (20F13) ABSTRACT: On October 26, 2021, the City Council awarded Contract No. 8695-1, Cliff Drive Clubhouse Rehabilitation, to A2Z Construct, Inc. The project consisted of replacing the exterior of the building, painting, wood patching and repair, installing a new pathway to the building, adding a new water fountain, replacing the wall behind the sidewalk at the park, and removing an interfering tree. The work is now substantially complete and staff requests City Council acceptance and closeout of the contract. RECOMMENDATION: a) Accept the completed work and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the project; b) Authorize the City Clerk to release the Labor and Materials Bond 65 days after Notice of Completion has been recorded in accordance with applicable portions of the Civil Code; and c) Release the Faithful Performance Bond one year after acceptance by the City Council. The contract has now been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works and Recreation and Senior Services Departments. A summary of the construction cost is as follows: Original Bid Amount: $ 185,750.00 Actual Cost of Bid Items Constructed: $ 175,750.00 Total Change Orders: $ 16,128.75 Applied Liquidated Damages $ -10,500.00 Final Contract Cost: $ 181,378.75 Changes to the contract cost included replacing several rotted support posts and additional concrete repairs. The seven day delay in contract completion resulted in the contractor incurring $10,500 in liquidated damages. ENVIRONMENTAL REIEW: On October 26, 2021, City Council found this project exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15301(a) (minor interior or exterior alterations involving such things as partitions and plumbing) of the CEQA Guidelines, California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Chapter 3, because this project results in no expansion of an existing use. 3-2 Cliff Drive Clubhouse Rehabilitation — Notice of Completion for Contract No. 8695-1 (20F13) May 24, 2022 Page 3 NOTICING: The agenda item has been noticed according to the Brown Act (72 hours in advance of the meeting at which the City Council considers the item).
